Website Overview : The Associate Director of Litigations will oversee all aspects of the company’s litigation strategy and manage a team of legal professionals. This role is critical in protecting Zepto’s interests, minimizing legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in litigation management, a strong understanding of the legal landscape, and exceptional leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities1. Litigation ManagementDraft, review, and file notices, criminal complaints, civil suits, writ petitions, appeals, and representations.Handle competition and insolvency litigation across various courts and tribunals, including Supreme Court of India, High Courts, NCLT/NCLAT, CCI, and other quasi-judicial authorities.Strategize and manage litigation matters including breach of contract, claims for damages, recoveries, and complaints under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.Collaborate with external counsel and consultants to handle complex litigation matters.Ensure timely preparation of responses to show-cause notices and other legal notices, especially in competition and insolvency-related matters.Draft, review, and file written representations and replies to government bodies and quasi-judicial authorities.Maintain and update the litigation tracker, providing regular reports to the General Counsel on ongoing cases.2. Strategic Legal GuidanceEnsure that dawn raids are managed with precision, the company’s rights are protected, and disputes are effectively resolved in favor of the organization, minimizing financial and reputational risks.Provide clear, actionable legal advice to business units on managing legal risk, compliance, and litigation matters.Anticipate potential legal risks in contracts, business practices, and regulatory compliance, particularly focusing on competition and insolvency laws.Serve as a strategic partner to business functions, enabling decisions that minimize risk while driving business success.3. Relationship & Stakeholder ManagementBuild strong relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, external legal counsels, and regulatory authorities.Lead and manage a team of legal professionals, if required, and provide training as necessary on legal issues affecting the business.Desired Skills & CompetenciesLegal Expertise: Deep knowledge of competition law, insolvency law, arbitration, and civil & criminal litigation.Strategic Mindset: Able to strategize litigation and compliance, minimizing risk and supporting business growth.Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to distill complex legal issues into clear advice.Leadership Skills: Experience managing external counsel and working cross-functionally within an organization.Problem-solving & Decision-making: Ability to assess complex legal matters and provide practical solutions. Experience in working with ambiguity and managing multiple high-stakes cases concurrently.Legal Automation: Familiarity with legal tech solutions for managing documentation, litigation tracking, and compliance reporting.Adaptability: Open to taking on new responsibilities and adapting to a fast-changing legal environment.
QualificationEducational Background: LL.B. from a recognized university. An LL.M. or specialization in competition or insolvency law is a plus.Post-Qualification Experience: 5-10 years of litigation experience with a focus on competition and insolvency litigation matters.Professional Skills: Experience in drafting pleadings, court appearances, and managing large-scale litigation.
