Job Title: Content Developer - Language Learning Application


Overview:

We are looking for a talented Content Developer to join our team in creating engaging and effective language learning materials for our innovative language learning application. As a Content Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing a comprehensive language curriculum, as well as curating additional resources to support learners in their language acquisition journey.


Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with language experts, educators, and instructional designers to develop a structured and progressive language curriculum aligned with proficiency levels (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced) and common language frameworks (e.g., CEFR, ACTFL).
  • Content Creation: Create engaging and interactive learning materials, including lesson plans, audiovisual content, quizzes, exercises, and cultural notes, to facilitate language acquisition and retention.
  • Multimedia Integration: Leverage multimedia elements such as audio recordings, videos, animations, and interactive exercises to enhance the learning experience and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Authentic Materials: Curate authentic language resources such as articles, podcasts, videos, and social media content to expose learners to real-world language usage and cultural nuances.
  • Adaptation and Localization: Adapt existing curriculum and content to cater to the needs of specific learner demographics, language variations, and cultural contexts. Ensure content is culturally sensitive and inclusive.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop formative and summative assessments to evaluate learners' progress and proficiency levels. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor the effectiveness of learning materials through user feedback, data analytics, and performance metrics. Iterate and optimize content based on insights to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, designers, and linguists, to ensure alignment of content development with overall product goals and timelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of content across different platforms and devices. Address any issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of trends, best practices, and innovations in language education, instructional design, and educational technology. Participate in professional development activities and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Linguistics, Education, Language Teaching, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (X years) in curriculum development, instructional design, or content creation for language learning programs or educational materials.
  • Proficiency in the target language(s) of the learning application, with native or near-native fluency preferred.
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition theories, pedagogical principles, and best practices in language teaching and learning.
  • Experience with educational technology tools, learning management systems (LMS), and multimedia authoring software.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content tailored to different proficiency levels and learner needs.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in language education.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or training in language teaching (e.g., TESOL, CELTA, DELTA) or instructional design.
  • Experience with digital content creation tools and multimedia production (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia).
  • Knowledge of additional languages and cultures beyond the target language(s) of the learning application.
  • Familiarity with language assessment frameworks and proficiency tests (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, DELF/DALF).
  • Experience working in multicultural or multilingual environments and designing content for diverse learner populations.
