Role : Oracle Database administrator
Location : Gurugram
Work Mode: Work from Office
Objective:
Oracle DBA is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's database infrastructure, with a primary focus on Oracle databases (20+ instances), along with MySQL and Cassandra. The role ensures database performance, security, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness. This individual will handle database monitoring, patching, troubleshooting, backup strategies, performance tuning, and automation while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements
Key Responsibilities :
Database Team (DBA Ownership from EIT Hosel, Loxon, DWH)
1. Oracle Database Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database instances across production, testing, and development environments.
- Perform backup and recovery operations using RMAN (Recovery Manager) and other tools.
- Ensure database availability, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Perform regular database patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
- Optimize Oracle database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
- Implement and manage Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Data Guard for high availability.
2. MySQL and Cassandra Database Administration
- Deploy, manage, and monitor MySQL and Cassandra databases.
- Implement backup, replication, and failover mechanisms for MySQL and Cassandra.
- Optimize MySQL performance tuning and query execution plans.
- Ensure Cassandra database scaling, security, and cluster health.
- Troubleshoot MySQL replication lag, Cassandra node failures, and database inconsistencies.
3. Database Monitoring & Performance Optimization
- Implement monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana, and ELK Stack for database health tracking.
- Configure alerts for high CPU usage, slow queries, replication issues, and storage thresholds.
- Analyze SQL execution plans and resolve slow-running queries and blocking locks.
- Tune memory management (SGA, PGA), indexing, and partitioning for efficient database performance.
4. Backup, Patching & Security Management
- Perform scheduled patching and version upgrades to keep databases secure and compliant.
- Manage database security, encryption, user access, and privilege control.
- Implement data masking, auditing, and compliance monitoring for sensitive data.
- Ensure zero-downtime database migrations and rolling upgrades.
5. Troubleshooting & Incident Management
- Diagnose and resolve database crashes, connection failures, and slow performance issues.
- Troubleshoot replication issues, log file errors, and storage bottlenecks.
- Work with application teams to resolve database-related errors and optimize queries.
- Provide on-call support for critical database incidents and ensure fast recovery.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain database architecture diagrams, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Document database configurations, backup policies, recovery procedures, and DR drills.
- Generate performance reports, capacity planning reports, and security audit reports.
- Train junior DBAs and other IT staff on best database practices
Must Have Skills:
- Oracle Database Administration Strong expertise in Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c database management.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery Experience with RMAN, Data Guard, MySQL replication, Cassandra backup strategies.
- SQL Performance Tuning – Proficiency in query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
- High Availability & Clustering – Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, MySQL replication, and Cassandra cluster tuning.
- Security & Compliance – Knowledge of database encryption, role-based access control, and audit policies.
- Automation & Scripting – Experience with PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, Python, or Ansible for automation.
- Cloud Database Integration – Familiarity with Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, or Azure SQL services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to prioritize database tasks and work under pressure in critical situations.
- Proactive approach towards continuous improvement and security best practices.
