This ensures Swiss Re’s operational stability while providing new foundational capabilities for IT teams across the firm.Edge & Connectivity Services has a wide-ranging stakeholder base, demanding frequent interactions and a professional, forthcoming behaviour from the team as a whole and from a humble leader acting as a role model. As a senior technology leader, you are willing to shape and align the technology strategy, assure operational stability, continually address technical debt to drive simplicity and take central accountability for Swiss Re's network edge.Your main responsibilities are to:Act as technical leader with exemplary behavior, actively influencing the architectural decision making and contributing to improve and streamline the technology footprint in shaping a coherent and secure service edge architecture.Act as a hands-on architect exemplifying his/her coding skills in fostering process automation and the development of APIs and integration patterns.Develop a vision and continuously improve and maintain the architecture of Swiss Re's edge service.Collaborate closely with important 3rd party providers at executive and engineering levels and lead your teams in applying modern technologies and principles in various areas ranging from Security, API-Gateways, and classical connectivity across the Swiss Re backbone.Steer and govern the implementation of cost effective and highly available network capabilities that ensure the security of our infrastructure and enable new modern services.Work with internal and external experts to resolve complex, non-routine problems.Inspire the team.About the Team:Edge & Connectivity Services is a newly formed area consisting of three teams (Cloudflare, Gateway Services and Connectivity Services) that address the challenges of hosting Swiss Re's public endpoints and the connectivity within the Swiss Re landscape. The teams deal with securing the edge, hosting gateways for APIs as well as data integration and are centrally responsible for connectivity across the Swiss Re backbone and for general addressability. This includes internal endpoints in both the private and the public clouds.About you:Resilience, stability and availability of services is at the core of your DNA, both in shaping services but also in managing change and in taking operational accountability, including emergencies.Continuously improving the robustness and effectiveness of the architectures you engineer is one of your key concerns and you have proven in previous roles that you know how to meet non-functional requirements of challenging solutions.You are attracted by the challenges of being responsible for the stability of base services forming the Swiss Re backbone and feel comfortable leading problem resolution investigations. You are able to remain calm and focused even in stressful situations.You are well versed in shaping the relationship with important partners and vendors, while holding up Swiss Re’s expectation in receiving an impeccable service. Edge Connectivity Architect
, you are an experienced professional with a hands-on mentality and operational skills. In particular, you possess:10+ years of engineering expert knowledge in an enterprise infrastructure environment, as an IT professional.Broad technical background and understanding of an enterprise network and its challenges in global deployment.Conceptual knowledge of API gateways, OAuth2 grant types and token-based access control as well as of modern application architecture.Working knowledge in the areas of Cloud Network services, secure gateways, DNS, , firewalls, and Internet breakouts/proxies.Awareness of cyber threats and the importance of governed Internet breakouts .Experience with cloud-enabled networking and Security Service Edge products, , SASE productsExperience with implementation of connectivity automation technologies or connectivity optimization.Ability to nurture a positive Engineering culture, client-oriented behaviour, and can-do attitude.Code writing skills in Python, Java and knowledge of modern frameworks like Spring Boot is a plusKnowledge of enterprise integration patterns and infrastructure automation.About Swiss ReSwiss Re is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient.
