System Administrator

Position : System Administrator (Contract Basis)

Experience : 3 to 5 Years

Pay Range : 5.4Lpa to 7.2Lpa

Shift Timing: 3:00 pm to 12:00 am IST

Job Summary   

We are seeking an experienced and proactive System Administrator to manage and maintain a diverse and dynamic IT environment. This role requires hands-on expertise in managing Proxmox virtualization, Docker containers, Linux and Windows servers, network infrastructure, firewalls, and workstation support. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, security, and efficiency across our technology infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Proxmox Virtualization & Docker Management

·       Administer and maintain Proxmox VE clusters, including VM creation, migration, and backups.

·       Manage and optimize Docker containers hosted within Proxmox environments.

·       Troubleshoot virtualization and containerization issues.

2. Server Administration

·       Manage Linux and Windows servers for web hosting, applications, and critical services.

·       Configure and maintain virtual servers, including license servers and application-specific servers.

·       Optimize system performance, security, and reliability through regular updates and patches.

·       Administer and maintain render queue managers for production pipelines.

3. Network and Firewall Management

·       Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure including switches, routers, and VLAN configurations.

·       Monitor and maintain firewalls, ensuring secure and reliable operations.

·       Configure and maintain pfSense and OPNsense firewalls, including setting up NAT, rules, VPN tunnels, and high-availability setups.

·       Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and optimize bandwidth usage.

3A. VPN Configuration and Management

·       Deploy, configure, and maintain OpenVPN for secure remote access.

·       Monitor and troubleshoot VPN connectivity issues to ensure reliable remote access for users.

4. Workstations and Inventory Management

·       Provide hardware and software support for workstations (Windows/Linux).

·       Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets and perform regular audits.

·       Ensure timely repair, replacement, or servicing of equipment.

5. System Monitoring and Maintenance

·       Implement and manage remote system monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus).

·       Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve outages promptly.

·       Oversee web hosting monitoring and perform routine maintenance of hosted applications.

·       Conduct basic website management, including troubleshooting and updates.

6. Security and Compliance

·       Implement and enforce access controls, data backup solutions, and disaster recovery protocols.

·       Ensure compliance with company IT policies and relevant data security standards.

·       Perform system audits and vulnerability assessments.

7. Automation and Optimization

·       Develop scripts and automation tools using Bash, Python, or PowerShell for routine tasks.

·       Optimize IT workflows to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.

8. Hardware Troubleshooting & Maintenance

·       Perform diagnostics and repair of hardware issues in servers, workstations, and networking equipment.

·       Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance to ensure hardware reliability and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

·       3 to 5 years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.

·       Strong expertise in Proxmox VE, virtualization technologies, and Docker.

·       Proficiency in managing Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.

·       Experience configuring and managing pfSense and OPNsense firewalls.

·       Hands-on experience with OpenVPN for secure remote access.

·       Solid understanding of network management, VLANs, switches, and firewalls.

·       Experience with remote system monitoring tools and web hosting management.

·       Strong scripting skills for task automation and system optimization.

·       Familiarity with render queue managers and their integration into production workflows.

·       Ability to diagnose and repair hardware issues across diverse systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert, CCNA, or equivalent.

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks for IT service management.

- Familiarity with tools like Ansibl e, Terraform , or similar for infrastructure automation.
