Our client is a development and advocacy organization who is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm:

  • Develop and implement a context-driven and integrated communications and public engagement business plan aligned with organizational and ministry funding strategies, targeting both national and partnership levels.

  • The plan will focus on directing and positioning the organization for resource growth, influence, and trust among internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support joint resource mobilization efforts through communication and digital marketing strategies.

  • Lead the execution of strategies to enhance public engagement and communication, including brand, media, and digital engagement strategies.

  • Ensure effective positioning and promotion of external engagement initiatives.

  • Recognize and address communications opportunities and solutions.

  • Develop and manage relationships with priority media, influencers, ambassadors, and partners.

  • Collaborate with consulting groups and external partners.

  • Identify and engage local and global influencers as ambassadors for outreach to external stakeholders.

  • Prioritize media opportunities and prepare relevant materials.

  • Strategically position the organization in mainstream and social media to mobilize support for social and policy change.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to the National Director as a communications and organizational leader.

  • Ensure senior and cross-functional teams understand how communications enhance organizational strategy, operations, and resource acquisition.

  • Lead the Communications and Public Engagement (PE) division in managing donor engagement, media relations, advocacy, and internal communications effectively.

  • Lead content gathering, design, and management of social media platforms, websites, events, and campaigns.

  • Build a high-performance communications function with a focus on productivity and quality.

  • Review and adjust team structure and staffing to align with strategy changes and donor accountability.

  • Provide line management and mentoring for team members.

  • Support the resource development team in creating communication materials aligned with the public engagement strategy.

  • Monitor and evaluate communication plan effectiveness.

  • Expand social and multimedia strategy to increase brand awareness.

  • Establish connections with Support Offices for international media engagement.

  • Manage communications during emergencies, ensuring quality field reports.

  • Assist department heads in planning and producing compelling fundraising, advocacy, and publicity materials for donor and public engagement, both locally and globally, collaborating with other offices when needed.

  • Manage the production of high-quality information resources for donor and public engagement.

  • Develop standards and guidelines for consistent messaging and branding across the organization, aligning with global guidelines.

  • Collaborate with teams to create impact stories based on program evidence.

  • Ensure alignment with donor requirements for public engagement and communication.

  • Organize annual best practices documentation in coordination with program teams.

  • Produce quality stories, photos, and materials for donor and public engagement through various communication channels.

  • Support senior leadership in reputation management with risk communication strategies in line with global standards.

  • Support SLT’s efforts to engage donors, corporations, and government officials at a high level.

  • Ensure leaders and staff are inspired by compelling stories of impact and are prepared to serve as trusted spokespeople, working closely with the Advocacy team.

  • Prepare leaders for major events and activities as needed.

  • Equip staff with the knowledge and skills to represent effectively.

  • Develop and implement an internal communication strategy to enhance staff awareness and understanding of the organization.

  • Strengthen communication capabilities and ensure brand consistency across the national office to improve organizational culture and effectiveness.

  • Encourage staff and leaders to embrace and promote the global story and national perspective through various internal channels and events.

  • Contribute to the production and distribution of country program reports.

  • Implement and monitor compliance with communication policies with support from the Regional Office.

  • Assist in managing events that showcase as a preferred partner.

  • Collaborate with department leads to develop a national external engagement plan to enhance influence and impact.

  • Support advocacy efforts by producing compelling content and engaging media and digital channels for global campaigns.

  • Develop and implement capacity-building plans for branding, content development, and digital engagement in coordination with relevant departments.

  • Equip the communications team with the necessary tools and training for field communication.

  • Train media spokespersons at various levels within the organization.

  • Identify and develop talent.

  • Model core values.

  • Support staff learning and performance.


Requirements
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Communications/ Creative management/ Public relations/ Journalism

  • At least 7 years experience in leading and managing communications and production teams in international NGOs or Creative Industries.

  • General experience in project management, with specific experience in the production of diverse and creative communications projects, including publications, multimedia, websites/pages, photos and video reports, etc.

  • Advanced communications technical skills such as photo and video production, editorial, graphic design, and media relations

  • Proven experience of training and capacity building of others

  • Experience working with children and youth 

  • English language fluency (verbal and written)

  • Excellent writing skills, with strong understanding of photographic and/or video skills preferred

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and to relate cross-culturally with a wide range of international constituencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to think and manage strategically, plan and meet deadlines
