Job Summary:

The Deputy Head of School provides strategic and operational support to the Head of School,ensuring smooth daily operations and contributing to the long-term success of the school. TheDeputy Head is responsible for managing aspects of curriculum, staff development, studentdiscipline, and school policies, promoting academic excellence and a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and School Culture● Support the Head of School in setting and implementing school-wide policies, goals, andstandards.● Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture that promotes student and staffengagement.● Serve as a role model for staff and students, demonstrating professionalism and ethicalbehavior.

2. Academic Oversight● Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring alignment with schooland district standards.● Monitor and support academic programs to improve student outcomes across K-12grades.● Work with department heads and teachers to develop innovative teaching strategies andintegrate technology in classrooms.

3. Staff Development and Supervision● Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating teachers and support staff.● Conduct regular teacher observations and provide constructive feedback to improveinstructional quality.● Develop and coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.

4. Student Discipline and Support● Oversee and enforce the school’s discipline policies, ensuring a safe and supportiveenvironment.● Work closely with counselors and support staff to address students’ behavioral,emotional, and academic needs.● Foster positive relationships with students and encourage leadership and responsibilityamong them.

5. Parental and Community Engagement● Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, addressing concerns and buildingrelationships.● Collaborate with community stakeholders to enhance school programs and studentopportunities.● Represent the school at meetings, events, and conferences as needed.

6. Operational and Administrative Duties● Assist in creating and managing the school’s budget and resource allocation.● Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, facility management, andemergency procedures.● Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations affecting school policies.

7. Strategic Planning and School Improvement● Collaborate on long-term school improvement initiatives and strategic goals.● Use data-driven approaches to assess and address academic performance, studentwellbeing, and staff effectiveness.● Develop and implement action plans to address areas needing improvement, and reportprogress to the Head of School.

Qualifications:● Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (required).● At least 15 years of teaching experience at IGSCE / IB Schools, with proven leadership experience in a school setting.● Strong understanding of K-12 educational standards, curriculum development, andteaching methodologies.● Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.● Ability to manage complex situations and make data-driven decisions.● Familiarity with technology in education, including learning management systems andonline resources.
