Mainframe Production Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities :- Provide L2/L3 level production support for mainframe-based applications and services.- Monitor, triage, and resolve incidents and issues in production environments to ensure minimal downtime.- Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with development teams for permanent fixes.- Execute and validate data integrity through strong SQL queries (preferably in MS SQL).- Support automation initiatives and improve testing processes across the production lifecycle.- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure software stability, performance, and quality.- Document production issues, resolutions, and operational Skills & Qualifications :- 8+ years of experience in Mainframe Production Support, with a strong focus on database and automation testing.- Proven expertise in SQL (MS SQL preferred) for complex queries, data validation, and troubleshooting.- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and ability to work in Agile teams.- Ability to drive software quality, optimize testing and support processes.- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.- Ability to handle critical production issues under pressure and ensure timely to Have :- Exposure to job scheduling tools like Control-M or CA-7.- Experience in writing or supporting JCL, COBOL, or other mainframe scripting languages.- Understanding of ITIL processes for incident and change management.
