Optical Transport Network Engineer

About the Role :
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optical Transport Network (OTN) Engineer with a strong background in C or C++ programming, OTN technologies, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Photonics, and Linux systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge optical transport solutions, designing, developing, and optimizing the network infrastructure for high-capacity and reliable data transmission.
Key Responsibilities :
- OTN Design & Optimization : Develop and optimize Optical Transport Networks, including OTN technologies such as OTN switching, OTN grooming, and OTN multiplexing for high-capacity transport solutions.
- C/C++ Development : Write efficient and high-performance C or C++ code for network equipment, firmware, and software related to optical transport systems.
- DWDM System Integration : Work with DWDM systems to enhance network capacity, improve performance, and troubleshoot issues related to high-speed optical transmission.
- Photonics Expertise : Leverage knowledge in photonics to assist in the design and optimization of optical systems, components, and technologies used in DWDM and OTN infrastructure.
- Linux System Administration : Develop and maintain Linux-based systems for managing and monitoring optical transport networks, ensuring seamless integration with existing network elements.
- Troubleshooting & Support : Provide technical support for issues related to OTN, DWDM, photonics, and Linux platforms. Perform in-depth diagnostics and resolve network faults efficiently.
- Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, firmware developers, and network architects, to design and deploy advanced optical transport solutions.
- Documentation & Reporting : Document network designs, system configurations, and testing results. Ensure all project activities are properly recorded and reported.
Key Requirements:
- Experience : Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in Optical Transport Networks (OTN), DWDM systems, and photonics technologies.
- Programming Skills : Strong expertise in C or C++ programming languages, with a focus on developing and optimizing networking and communication software.
- OTN & DWDM Expertise : Deep understanding of Optical Transport Networks, DWDM technology, and its application in high-capacity network infrastructures.
- Photonics Knowledge : Proficiency in photonic components, optical systems, and their integration into high-speed networks.
- Linux Experience : Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems for network and system administration tasks, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in a high-performance, complex networking environment.
- Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Desirable Skills :
- Familiarity with network management protocols like SNMP, NetFlow, or OpenFlow.
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) principles.
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals.
- Experience with network automation and scripting languages like Python or Bash.
- Certifications related to optical networks (e.g., Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, etc.) are a plus.
Education :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
