As the Sr Product Developer at BMC, you will be working on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Your work will include collaboration across different BMC products lines. You will be managing a varied workload of multiple ongoing tasks including new function development and product maintenance. You will be communicating with various teams to help resolve customer issues. As part of the development team, it would be your responsibility to develop and debugging of software products.

The product line includes BMC’s Intelligent Z Optimization & Transformation products, which help the world’s largest companies to monitor and manage their mainframe systems. The modernization of mainframe is the beating heart of our product line, and we achieve this goal by developing products that improve the developer experience, the mainframe integration, the speed of application development, the quality of the code and the applications’ security, while reducing operational costs and risks. We acquired several companies along the way, and we continue to grow, innovate, and perfect our solutions on an ongoing basis.

Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

10+ years of experience designing, testing, and implementing mainframe OEM vendor products and system exits in an IBM z/OS environment. Extensive experience coding MVS Assembler using MVS supervisor services, cross memory services and data management facilities. Extensive experience in a combination of the following - JCL, VSAM, JES2/3, SDSF, ISPF, REXX, and/or C programming. Diagnostics, Debugging and Troubleshooting skills using IPCS, GTF, and XDC. Experience in QA principles, including test planning, test cases creation, execution, test results documentation & defect reporting. The ability to work independently, solve complex problems and effectively reassess work priorities. Knowledge of z/OS Internals and Control blocks. Experience supporting and developing MVS systems software.

Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:

Knowledge of storage management/administration (DFSMS, DFSMS/HSM, virtual tape systems, DASD) is a plus. Knowledge of trimodal instructions, access register mode, SRB and zIIP processing. Experience using IBM utilities (IEBCOPY, IEBGENER, SORT, IEHLIST, AMBLIST, etc.)
To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:  • You can embrace, live and breathe our BMC values every day • You have 8+ years of experience with application development using Java, Eclipse RCP, Web Services, Core Java, and multi-threading• You have experience in a Web based environment utilizing HTML, XML, and JavaScript, Java Server Pages, Servlets and Angular. • You have knowledge and experience with various DBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Apache Derby)• You have familiarity with static code analyzers like Sonar for automated reviews • You have the ability to write code for GUI development using Java, Eclipse RCP, Angular, JQuery • You have problem solving skill using data structures and algorithms • You have knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented software development and high-performance code characteristics and of version control systems like Git and bitbucket.  Whilst these are nice to have, our team can help you develop in the following skills:  • CI/CD environment with popular DevOps tools
