Position Summary:

The Pharmaceutical Purchaser will be responsible for managing and executing the procurement

process for pharmaceuticals. This role requires an individual with experience in purchasing for

multiple pharmacy outlets, ensuring a consistent supply of medications while maintaining cost

efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:

● Procurement Management:

○ Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms for

pharmaceutical products.

○ Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers.

○ Manage the entire purchase cycle from order placement to delivery, ensuring

timely and accurate supply.


● Inventory Control:

○ Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to ensure optimal inventory levels.

○ Coordinate with pharmacy outlets to understand their specific needs and adjust

orders accordingly.

○ Implement strategies to minimize stockouts and overstock situations.

● Quality Assurance:

○ Ensure all purchased products meet regulatory and quality standards.

○ Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any issues related to

product quality and safety.


● Cost Management:

○ Conduct cost analysis and market research to identify cost-saving opportunities.

○ Implement strategies to achieve procurement savings while maintaining product

quality.


● Compliance and Documentation:

○ Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase

orders, contracts, and supplier evaluations.

○ Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

○ Prepare and present reports on procurement activities and performance metrics.


● Vendor Management:


○ Evaluate supplier performance and develop improvement plans where

necessary.

○ Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers promptly and professionally.


Qualifications:

● Education:

○ Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration or any related field.

● Experience:

○ Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical purchasing, preferably

managing procurement for multiple pharmacy outlets.

○ Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier

relationships.


● Skills:

○ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

○ Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

○ Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word,

PowerPoint).

○ Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

○ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

● Knowledge:

○ In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical products and the pharmaceutical supply

chain.

○ Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
