Role: Category Head - Business

Organization: A leading B2B ECommerce Platform under a large Indian Conglomerate


Key Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to drive growth and increase sales. Set clear goals and align strategies with overall business objectives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Supply Chain Visibility: Enhance supply chain visibility to improve inventory management and optimize the movement of products from suppliers to customers. Implement processes and tools to ensure transparency and efficiency across the supply chain.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and manage the category budget, including cost estimation, tracking, and financial reporting. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Vendor Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing and supply agreements. Monitor vendor performance and address any issues that arise.
  • Operational Oversight and Inventory Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the category, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and quality control. Ensure that operations are efficient and align with category objectives.
  • Licensee and Operations Management: Oversee licensee agreements and ensure compliance with business operations and inventory terms, driving operational efficiency and alignment with company objectives. Collaborate with licensees to streamline processes and address any operational issues to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Product Range Oversight: Manage and optimize the product range, including Hot Rolled (HR), Cold Rolled (CR), and Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled (HRPO) products, ensuring a comprehensive and competitive offering in the market.
  • Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory turnover, sales performance, and operational efficiency. Identify areas for improvement and implement initiatives to enhance performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for category objectives. Facilitate effective communication and teamwork across functions.


Who can apply:

  • 8+ years of experience in category management or a related field (with prior working experience with a BIG4), with at least 5 years of experience specifically in the industry.
  • In-depth industry knowledge, including market dynamics, customer needs, and supply chain management.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategies for category growth, managing budgets, and driving sales performance.
  • MBA from a Tier-1 institute with an Engineering background (preferred).
