About Strac

We're a Y Combinator–backed data security startup helping companies detect, redact, and protect sensitive data across SaaS platforms (Google Drive, Slack, Salesforce, Gmail, etc.). We work with BFSI, healthcare, and high-growth tech companies where speed, accuracy, and compliance are critical.

This is not a "manage tickets" job. We're looking for someone who can own backend systems, build from scratch, and work in high-pressure, fast-moving environments.

What You'll be Doing

  • Build and maintain secure, scalable backend systems and APIs.
  • Own AWS infrastructure (Lambda, ECS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, etc.).
  • Implement and improve security-first architectures.
  • Integrate with SaaS platforms and handle large-scale data flows.
  • Work closely with the founder and core engineering team on rapid delivery.
  • Be an individual contributor who thrives in startup chaos (we mean it).

Must Haves

  • 2–3 years of backend engineering experience (Node.js, Python, or Go preferred).
  • Strong AWS experience (infrastructure + security best practices).
  • Solid understanding of authentication, encryption, and data privacy.
  • Startup experience or proven ability to work independently with minimal hand-holding.
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, performance, and debugging.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with data security, DLP, DSPM, or compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Hands-on with Kubernetes, Terraform, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Prior integrations with SaaS APIs at scale.
