Established in 1993, WOTR currently operates in eight states namely Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Our head office is in Pune.


A Short description of the role

WOTR is seeking a dynamic and versatile Communications Manager to lead our multifaceted communications strategy. This role requires a holistic approach to media, encompassing earned, owned, and paid perspectives, as well as audiovisual communications. The ideal candidate will be a skilled storyteller and strategist, adept at leveraging various communication channels to amplify WOTR's mission and impact in rural India.


What will you work on?

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with WOTR's goals and values

• Manage and create content for multiple platforms, including social media, website, blogs, and email newsletters

• Craft compelling narratives for annual reports, press releases, and case studies

• Oversee the production of audiovisual content, including videos, podcasts, and info graphics

• Analyse communication metrics and adjust strategies based on data-driven insights

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels

• Work hand-in-hand with the fundraising department to support and contribute to the organization's fundraising success.

• Oversee media relations and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders

• Integrate AI tools to enhance communication efficiency and effectiveness

• Lead, mentor, and hire a team of communication professionals

• Manage the communications budget and allocate resources effectively

• Liaise with external vendors and agencies for specialized communication services

• Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines and maintain high standards of quality


Who are you?

  • A seasoned communications professional with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the development sector
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across various formats and platforms
  • Proficient in using social media management tools and content management systems
  • Experience in data analysis and interpreting communication metrics
  • Comfortable with AI tools and emerging technologies in the communications field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and hiring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high levels of empathy
  • Unwavering commitment to integrity and professionalism
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Hindi is a significant advantage
  • Passionate about rural development and environmental conservation in India
  • Curious mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
  • Ability to work in a relatively unstructured environment
  • Experience in audiovisual production and familiarity with AV equipment and software
