ABOUT THE ROLE: Lead Product Designer for Design Systems

We are on the lookout for a Lead Product Designer focusing on Design Systems to spearhead the establishment of the connective thread that facilitates product teams in swiftly designing and constructing a consistent user experience and interface across our platform. As the Design System Lead, you will take charge of constructing and maintaining a design system from scratch for a team that rapidly designs. Additionally, you will bring improvements in practice, offer thought leadership, creative thinking, and mentorship to less experienced designers.

WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE
  • Strong systems thinking & documentation: Ability to deconstruct UI into components, document them, and effectively communicate when and when not to utilize each for other designers and engineers.
  • Governance: Establishment of a clear perspective on the success metrics of the system and how to manage contributions across various designers and engineering teams.
  • Strong design skills: Excellent design skills with a solid grasp of design principles, typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy.
  • Visual communication: Proficiency in conveying complex ideas and design concepts visually.
  • Attention to detail: Ensuring all design elements are consistent and aligned with the product's overall design vision.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust to evolving design requirements and pivot swiftly when needed.
  • WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE IN YOUR FIRST YEAR:

WHAT WE'RE SEARCHING FOR
  • Extensive product/service design experience of 8-10+ years
  • A portfolio showcasing successful shipment of multiple products, adeptness in applying interaction design patterns to resolve complex workflows, and expertise in visual design, information hierarchy, layout, composition, and typography.
  • Experience in working on intricate tools utilized daily for work (CRM, medical records, productivity tools, etc)
  • Profound comprehension of visual systems and practices, including layout, iconography, and typography, and a penchant for advancing visual design in interfaces.
  • Experience in leading product design from concept development to shipment
  • Proficient in guiding groups through idea generation and decision-making processes.
  • Ability to communicate profound design thinking at all organizational levels.
  • Strong prototyping experience at various fidelity levels and enhancing prototyping quality and utilization across teams.
  • Ability to design and document user flows and design components at a systemic level.
  • Familiarity with user research practices and the ability to translate insights into actions.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in interaction design, industrial design, product design, service design, human-computer interaction, or equivalent experience

  • Experience in developing and working with design systems across different modalities (web, mobile, tablet, etc), and extending them to expand products in new and innovative directions
  • Experience in Healthcare or Fintech
  • Operational mindset: Understanding that not all solutions are software-based and sometimes process changes are the appropriate solution.
