About the Role

The Client is seeking a senior leader to set up, scale, and manage the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Underwriting team supporting the US market. This is a high-visibility leadership role overseeing end-to-end CRE underwriting delivery, governance, team development, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, establish, and scale the CRE underwriting function supporting US-based real estate portfolios.
  • Drive underwriting delivery, oversight, governance, and execution excellence across the CRE lifecycle.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 15–20 CRE professionals, ensuring capability uplift and strong operational discipline.
  • Partner with senior onshore stakeholders, coverage teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure seamless underwriting and approval workflows.
  • Standardize and streamline underwriting processes across sub-segments and asset classes.
  • Expand scope across CRE sub-lines, manage transitions, and stabilize new processes.
  • Lead efficiency, automation, and quality-improvement initiatives across the function.
  • Ensure regulatory adherence, risk controls, and documentation standards are consistently met.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 18+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate across Underwriting, Asset Management, or Valuation.
  • 8+ years of proven leadership experience managing mid-sized to large teams.
  • Strong understanding of US Commercial Real Estate markets, underwriting frameworks, and financial analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up or scaling CRE underwriting teams (India/Global capability centers preferred).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with US-based senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience improving processes, driving efficiencies, and leading transformation initiatives.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with multiple priorities.
