Role Description

This is an Independent Contractor - Legal Consultant remote role for a lawyer experienced in data privacy and technology law. The Lawyer will be responsible for advising on legal issues related to data protection, technology regulations, and compliance matters. Key tasks include drafting and reviewing legal documents, ensuring adherence to privacy laws, providing risk assessments, and developing policies to safeguard data and technology against legal risks. The role also involves staying updated with evolving laws and regulations to offer proactive legal guidance.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data privacy, data protection laws, and compliance (e.g., DPDPA, GDPR, CCPA)
  • Knowledge and experience in technology law, including software licensing and IT contracts
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and document review skills
  • Ability to assess legal risks and provide strategic legal advice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep up with evolving laws and regulations in the digital and tech space
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and in a remote environment
  • Bachelors/ Masters in Law or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership.
  • Experience in a consulting or in-house legal role is a plus.
