Living within a two-hour radius of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn MD is a requirement for the selected candidate. The person chosen should also be open to working onsite at least two days a week. Sounds cool, right?

Key Skills Required:

• Strong understanding of user-centered design (UCD) principles, including documenting user requirements and needs; Experience in Interaction/Interface design using user-centered approaches
• Job Overview:
• Tasks involve analyzing user needs, deriving business processes, assisting in defining requirements, designing browser-based interfaces, and conducting usability testing.
• Gathering user needs and business goals from stakeholders
• Leading customer discovery sessions
• Creating Conceptual Models, Journey Maps, Personas, and Scenarios of Use
• Developing and refining screen prototypes
• Documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations

Skills Requirements:

FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS (Basic Qualifications)

• Demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to discuss technical topics and engage with customers on a daily basis
• A minimum of 6 years of direct experience in Interaction/Interface design using User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (a contractual requirement)

FACTORS TO HELP YOU SHINE (Required Skills)

• Having these skills will help you thrive in this role:
• Demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills, being able to convey technical topics and interact with customers regularly
• At least 6 years of direct experience in Interaction/Interface design using User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
• Minimum 6 years of experience in documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
• At least 4 years of experience in designing and conducting usability tests in various settings
• At least 4 years of experience in presenting findings and recommendations to different-sized groups
• Submission of a digital design portfolio for review

HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD (Desired Skills)

• Show off your expertise in modern development through:
• Experience with Axure RP prototyping software
• Proficiency in Adobe XD prototyping software
• Knowledge of Pega and/or ServiceNow platforms
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
• Understanding of responsive design
• Prior experience supporting government agencies
• Knowledge of Section 508 and its design requirements
• Holding additional UX certifications like UX Master Certification (NN/g) or UX Design Immersive (General Assembly)
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (required for the contract)
