Position Summary:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will drive sales performance in an assigned geographical region, managing a team of sales professionals, building relationships with key retailers, distributors, and customers, and implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed targets.
This position is based out of Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai and reports to the Head of City. Key responsibilities include achieving sales targets, market expansion, promotional campaigns, pricing, and negotiation.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Growth Revenue:
- Achieve Sales Targets: Develop and execute area-specific sales plans to drive sales within the assigned area.
- Market Expansion: Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand the market reach, including acquiring new customers and increasing market share.
- Promotional Campaigns: Implement promotional and marketing activities, working closely with marketing teams and retailers to ensure visibility and product promotion.
- Pricing & Negotiation: Ensure competitive pricing strategies and effectively negotiate contracts to maximize sales while maintaining profitability.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Team Supervision: Lead, manage, and motivate the sales team to ensure they meet sales targets and provide excellent customer service.
- Training & Development: Train, coach, and develop sales team members to improve performance, product knowledge, and customer relationship skills.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate team performance and provide feedback, coaching, and performance improvement plans where necessary.
Distributor & Retailer Management:
- Distributor Management: Oversee distributor relationships, ensuring they are meeting sales targets, adhering to agreements, and delivering in terms of inventory and delivery timelines & Maintain AK quality standards for DB inventory.
- Retail Relationship Management: Develop strong relationships with key retailers and customers, ensuring they receive excellent service and the company's products are well represented.
- Sales Planning & Forecasting: Collaborate with distributors and retailers to create accurate sales forecasts and inventory management plans.
Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Market Trends: Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and consumer preferences to adjust sales strategies and tactics.
- Sales Reporting: Submit regular sales reports, including updates on performance against targets, customer feedback, and competitor insights.
- Data Analytics: Use data intelligence to analyze sales trends, track KPIs, and adjust strategies to ensure sales objectives are met.
Operations & Execution:
- Merchandising & Product Placement: Ensure effective in-store merchandising, product placement, and visibility as per company standards and plans.
- Inventory Management: Work with distributors and retailers to ensure the right inventory levels are maintained in stores, minimizing stock-outs and excess inventory & Maintain 100% Fill Rates against PO.
- Complaint Resolution: Address any customer issues, complaints, or concerns, working to resolve them quickly and effectively & Coordinate with the quality team to maintain hygiene.
- Budget & Financial Management:
- Budget Management: Monitor and manage the sales budget, ensuring spending is within limits and ROI is maximized.
- Cost Control: Take effective cost management measures while ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Cross-functional coordination: Work closely with marketing, finance, logistics, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and effective execution of sales plans.
- Feedback to Product Teams: Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to inform product development and improvements.
Compliance & Best Practices:
- Adhere to Company Policies: Ensure all activities align with company policies, ethical standards, and compliance regulations.
- SOP Adherence: Ensure the team follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sales processes, reporting, and customer interactions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation or Post Graduation.
- Experience: 12+ Years relevant experience.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Will to work anywhere in the operational area.
