Job Description – Plant Operator / Production Operator (Chemical Industry)1. Productivity ResponsibilitiesAdjust control settings on equipment to regulate chemical reaction speed, quality, and yield.Operate the production section strictly as per SOP.Use PPE properly and follow all safety measures as per guidelines.Maintain knowledge of MSDS for all raw materials and plant-specific products.Follow and maintain 5S practices in the section and surrounding areas.Participate in Poka-Yoke, Kaizen, and TQM initiatives.Monitor instruments, flow meters, panel lights, indicators, and alarms to ensure process compliance.Operate chemical processes/machinery via panel boards, control units, or semi-automatic equipment.Record operating data including process parameters, test results, and instrument readings.Communicate with technical and supervisory personnel to report issues affecting safety, efficiency, or product quality.2. Quality ResponsibilitiesDraw samples and conduct QC tests to ensure product standards are met.Regulate or shut down equipment during emergencies as instructed by supervisors.Start pumps for washing/rinsing reactor vessels, exhausting vapours/gases, and regulating oil, steam, air, or perfume flow to process units.Interpret chemical reactions through sight glasses/monitors and evaluate lab reports for process adjustments.Patrol plant areas to ensure tanks and troughs do not overflow.Inform maintenance and engineering teams about equipment issues and coordinate required utilities like steam, water, air, or power.3. Safety ResponsibilitiesReport unsafe conditions of received materials to the Plant Incharge.Report malfunctioning devices immediately.Report Near Miss incidents.Participate in shift Safety Talks.Monitor contract labour BCA daily and maintain records.Issue cold-work permits and electrical Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO).Ensure PPE availability for operators and contract labour, along with PPE inspection compliance.Ensure safety in every plant operation and help maintain the safest workplace.4. Housekeeping ResponsibilitiesIdentify sources of leakage or spillage, collect spilled material, and initiate mitigation.Inform maintenance to resolve leakage/spillage issues and take trials to confirm rectification.Follow shift-incharge instructions for plant housekeeping.Allocate housekeeping areas to contract labour.Maintain housekeeping tool checklists, HK stand upkeep, and ensure daily cleaning per schedule.Maintain housekeeping as per 5S standards.5. Manpower Management ResponsibilitiesAllocate daily jobs to contract labour, train new IKYA operators (on-job), and manage unskilled contract workers.Coordinate with relievers for smooth job handover.Inform shift incharge in case of manpower shortage.Ensure efficient utilization of contract manpower.EXP : 2-3 YRSSALARY : 3 LPA
