
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Purpose:
To lead the Quantity Surveying (QS) function across all projects in India and Indonesia, ensuring
accurate quantification, variation management, material ordering, process adherence, and
technology adoption, while managing a large team and supporting overall project and
commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 20+ Quantity Surveyors across multiple sites and
regions.
• Define clear team objectives, monitor performance, and ensure continuous upskilling.
• Drive collaboration between QS, project, procurement, and billing teams.
Material Ordering & Management
• Ensure the QS team handles all project material ordering based on accurate quantities
and approved schedules.
• Maintain tight coordination with procurement to avoid delays, shortages, or overstocking.
Quantification
• Oversee quantification of all project items (including B and C grade items) based on
approved contracts, drawings, and BOQs.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of quantity take-offs and reconciliations.
Variation & Claims Management
• Lead preparation, submission, and negotiation of variation statements and change
orders.
• Support project managers and commercial leads in claims preparation and resolution.
Process Creation, Improvement & Adherence
• Develop, document, and enforce robust QS processes and standard operating
procedures.
• Continuously improve existing processes for efficiency, compliance, and quality.
Technology Implementation & Adoption
• Good knowledge of implementation and usage of digital tools (e.g., SAP, QS software,
project management tools).
• Ensure the QS team adheres to technology protocols for tracking, reporting, and
analytics.
Schedule & Timely Deliverables
• Ensure timely material ordering aligned with project schedules and milestones.
• Support the billing team by providing precise material quantity details and cost data.
Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with project managers, site teams, procurement, and billing.
• Participate in project review meetings, reporting progress, challenges, and corrective
actions.
Compliance & Reporting
• Provide regular reports on cost, quantity, variation, and material status to senior
management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) or related field; Master's degree or specialized QS certifications preferred
- 15–20 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost management, and commercial functions, preferably in MEP, EPC, or infrastructure sectors
- Proficiency in SAP, QS software, and related digital tools; certifications in contract management, cost control, or commercial management (preferred)
- Proven track record of leading large, multi-country, multi-location QS teams, driving process improvements, and delivering complex projects across diverse geographies.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in quantity surveying, material quantification, variation management, and cost control
- Strong leadership and team management experience (leading 20+ member, multi-location QS teams)
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, QS tools, and digital project management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, improve, and enforce process-driven workflows.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, claims, and commercial negotiations.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to adapt in fast-paced project environment.
