Title: Studio Head – Barcode's Production Studio

Location: Mumbai (5K sq ft. state-of-the-art facility)

Role Overview

As Studio Head, you will own end-to-end management of Barcode's flagship Mumbai production studio—ensuring seamless bookings, pristine studio operations, and best-in-class service for internal teams and external clients. You'll leverage your network of local production houses, crew, and freelancers to maximize studio utilization and uphold global-standard quality.

Key Responsibilities

Studio Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily studio operations: booking calendar, kit/inventory management (lighting, grip, props, backdrops), and facility upkeep.
  • Implement SOPs for health & safety, equipment check-in/out, and studio cleanliness (pre- and post-shoot).
  • Monitor studio utilization metrics; identify and rectify downtime or bottlenecks.

Client & Freelancer Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with top-tier local production houses, DOPs, art directors, stylists, and crew freelancers.
  • Act as primary liaison for studio tours, rate negotiations, and service-level agreements.
  • Source and recommend vetted talent (camera operators, gaffers, grips, assistants) to ensure high production value.

Booking & Scheduling

  • Manage an intuitive booking system (e.g., Studio Ninja, Calendly) for internal teams and external clients—balancing priority bookings, lead times, and over-runs.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental calendars to prevent conflicts (creative, post-production, events).
  • Provide real-time availability updates and rapid turnaround on tentative holds and confirmations.

Budgeting & Vendor Management

  • Own studio P&L: prepare annual budgets, forecast utilization revenue, and track actuals.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts (catering, craft services, equipment rental top-ups) to optimize cost without compromising quality.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and reconciliation of studio bookings and ancillary services.

Strategic Development & Growth

  • Analyze market trends and competitor studios to evolve our service offering (e.g., AR/VR capture, live-stream capabilities, hybrid-event setups).
  • Develop add-on packages (pre-lit sets, green-screen bundles, turnkey production crews) to drive incremental revenue.
  • Lead quarterly reviews with senior leadership on studio performance, client feedback, and roadmap for enhancements.

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years in studio management or production services, preferably in an agency, broadcast, or high-end rental house.
  • Deep network of Mumbai-based production vendors, freelance crews, and ancillary service providers.
  • Proven P&L ownership with experience hitting utilization and revenue targets.
  • Hands-on familiarity with studio booking software and production workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to juggle multiple concurrent productions.
