About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for our engineering and design initiatives for utility-scale energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in BESS design, pre-bid and post-bid engineering in the renewable energy sector.How you will contribute:BESS Engineering & Design - Lead the design and engineering of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for utility-scale projects ranging from 20 MWh to 300+ MWh - Perform battery sizing, evaluation, and selection based on tender requirements and technical feasibility - Develop system designs, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and layouts considering site-specific constraints - Act as technical lead and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for large-scale Solar + BESS integrated projectsPre-Bid & Post-Bid Support - Provide comprehensive pre-bid engineering support including technical evaluation and battery sizing - Prepare Request for Proposals (RFPs) for BESS systems and Balance of Plant (BOP) components - Conduct vendor evaluation and technical due diligence for battery and system suppliers - Prepare General Technical Particulars (GTPs) and technical bid documentation - Support bid management activities for SECI, state utility, and private sector tendersTechnical Leadership - Provide technical guidance on AC/DC design for solar and energy storage systems - Drive innovation in system design to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness - Mentor junior engineers and build technical capabilities within the teamIdeal Skills for this role include:Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or Power Engineering (Essential) - Master’s degree in Energy Technology, Power Systems, or related field (Preferred)Experience: - 8-10 years of progressive experience in electrical design and engineering within the renewable energy sector - Minimum 3-4 years of hands-on experience in BESS design and engineering - Experience with utility-scale projects (20+ MWh BESS)Technical Skills: - Battery Systems: Battery sizing, evaluation, selection, and system integration - Design Software: AutoCAD, PV Syst - Engineering: Pre-bid engineering, post-bid engineering, electrical design - Project Documentation: SLD preparation, layout design, RFP/GTP creation - Vendor Management: Technical evaluation and vendor coordinationKey Achievements Expected:The successful candidate should demonstrate: - Experience as technical lead for projects exceeding 20 MWh BESS capacity - Proven success in winning competitive bids through technical excellence - Track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously - Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skillsDesired Competencies:Technical Competencies - Deep understanding of battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, etc.) and their applications - Expertise in grid integration and power system design - Knowledge of Indian Electricity Grid Code and relevant standards (IEC, IEEE) - Familiarity with solar PV systems and hybrid renewable energy projectsProfessional Competencies - Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams - Strong project management and leadership skills - Excellent communication and presentation abilities - Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities - Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
