We are looking for a Marketing & Business Development Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping Start2’s presence in India, one of the world’s most dynamic startup ecosystems. This role blends marketing and business development into a single position focused on driving growth and impact. You will work closely with the regional leads and the local teams to create awareness and build the startup network and ecosystem for Start2.


The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, excels at networking and problem-solving, adapts well to challenges, takes initiative, and has proven experience building partnerships with startups, corporations, and investors.


Key Responsibilities


1. Marketing & Ecosystem Positioning

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to build Start2 India’s brand within the startup and innovation ecosystem, including in the focus area of climate tech for Asia.
  • Create thought-leadership content, campaigns, and events that highlight Start2’s role as a global innovation connector.
  • Manage digital channels, PR activities, and local ecosystem outreach to attract startups, corporates, and investors.


2. Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and engage Corporate partners interested in open innovation and startup collaboration.
  • Drive sales for Start2’s programs, platforms, and services in India.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of B2B opportunities, from lead generation to closing.


3. Ecosystem Building

  • Build strong relationships with corporates, venture capital funds, government bodies, accelerators, incubators, universities and other ecosystem players.
  • Represent Start2 India at industry conferences, events, and ecosystem gatherings.
  • Act as a bridge between the Indian ecosystem and Start2’s global network.


The ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrates a range of marketing and sales skills – from strategic thinking to creative and execution
  • Has experience with product and performance marketing
  • Possesses a positive attitude and thrives in a team environment
  • Is a self-starter, be forward-thinking, and resourceful
  • Has excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking, emceeing and delivering presentations
  • Displays strong project management skills and is highly organized with great attention to detail, ensuring operational excellence in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Is highly flexible and adaptable; able to juggle multiple projects efficiently with a can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
  • Has a mindset of continuous learning and improvement• Exhibits cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and sensitivity


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5–10 years of experience in marketing, sales and business development; startup and/or corporate innovation experience is a plus.
  • Background: Proven track record in startups, scaleups, consulting, accelerators, or corporate innovation units.
  • Skills:

a) Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

b) Ability to create compelling marketing campaigns and sales pitches.

c) Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Network: Established relationships in the Indian startup/corporate innovation ecosystem are a plus.
  • Education: Degree from a reputable educational institution in Marketing, Business or equivalent
  • Tools: Experience in HubSpot, Notion, Adobe Creative Suite, marketing automation tools, and tracking tools to assess campaign effectiveness
  • Communications: Excellent command of written and spoken English in a business context
