This role supports the recruitment and onboarding of international students, engaging them through various outreach initiatives, educational fairs, and online channels. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering the associated recruitment strategy for TUS.

The Role:
Admissions is part of External Relations, which is the division responsible for delivering the University to the world and prides itself in seizing opportunities that will enhance the profile and reputation of OneStep Global supporting the University. OneStep Global communicates with many different audiences to build purposeful relationships internally, locally, nationally and internationally. We enable those who wish to apply to study with the University to make informed choices and we implement pioneering approaches to student recruitment such as our sector-leading Offer Calculator.
You will play a key role in delivering a proactive, efficient and effective service throughout the applicant’s journey from application to being admitted as a student supporting the University. You will have responsibility for liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
To flexibly use resources, you may be given the opportunity to work in different areas of the department at OneStep Global.
Reporting:
The Admissions Officer will report directly to the Sr. Regional Advisor- South Asia and MENA with whom he/she will work closely.
Key responsibilities:
Processing applications
1. You will be responsible for receiving and processing applications to the University from initial application to registration. This will include using your judgment, expertise and knowledge to deal with queries, making decisions, issue offers, checking that conditions related to the offer are met, and relying on final confirmation decisions. This will include:
· assessing how well applicants meet the criteria, including prior study and/or whether overseas qualifications are comparable to the required Irish qualifications.
· assessing whether other non-academic requirements are met to a sufficient standard.
· discussing criteria and applicants with Admissions Tutors.
· discussing criteria with applicants who may enquire about their suitability for a course.
· dealing with complex enquiries and acting as required.
· ensuring decisions comply with internal (e.g. fitness to practice) and external regulations (e.g. right to study in the Ireland);
· assessing the fee status of applicants, classifying them as home or overseas as appropriate.
· issuing certificates to overseas applicants for visa purposes.
· flagging any issues relating to overseas students to the University’s International Student Team for discussion before decisions are made.
· communicating decisions to applicants (these are legally binding offers, so accuracy is essential);
· Maintaining a good general awareness of qualifications and flagging any developments to your Team Leader.
2. The University has many admissions routes with each having its own process, as well as several different systems for which training will be given. Once you have been trained in systems and processes you will be expected to work flexibly across admissions routes as required.
3. You will need to be alert to the possibility of fraudulent applications by thoroughly checking documentation and flagging up when issues are detected.
4. You will need to work at a high level of accuracy within the agreed turnaround times and to meet performance targets.
5. You will be expected to proactively make suggestions for improvements to the service offered.
Collaboration
1. You will be required to work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues to provide a service that meets the demands of applicants and other stakeholders.
2. You will also support new members of staff within the office, sharing advice, guidance and best practice. You may be asked to supervise staff from time to time.
3. You may be asked to work on projects relating to the work of the Admissions Office and the identification of service enhancements.
4. You will represent Admissions at Open Days and may occasionally be required to represent the University at Offer Holder Visit Days and HE Fairs, providing advice and guidance to pre-applicants and applicants.

1. You will be required to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Director of Admissions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
· Educated to Degree level or relevant work experience evidencing the skills and ability to undertake the role.
· Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly, and to analyze information and data
· Ability to manage good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
· Highly proficient IT skills, and the ability to quickly learn new IT skills and software packages as required.
· Proven ability to plan and anticipate requirements, proactively planning own (and sometimes others’ workloads) to manage time effectively, progress tasks concurrently and work to deadlines.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for different audiences, and to required deadlines.
· Excellent interpersonal skills. The post holder must inspire confidence and command authority with a range of colleagues and always provide excellent customer service.
· A high degree of professionalism, tact, and diplomacy, and the ability to exercise discretion regarding the handling and management of sensitive information/issues.
· A high degree of initiative, personal judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, and a self-motivating approach.
· Ability to work effectively in a large, complex organization, and to develop a good understanding of how the University and higher education institutions work.
· Ability to understand policy and procedures and how to apply these.
· Understands the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace.
· Ability to identify and respond to equality and diversity issues in line with relevant policies and procedures
· An understanding of the admissions, marketing and recruitment processes in the Irish Higher Education sector would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided.
· Proven abilities in applying close attention to detail and working under pressure to deadline.
Dimensions
This role will require the exercise of personal initiative within and beyond the department. Occasional management of others may be required.
Planning and organizing
This role requires the individual to work closely with their line managers to set and achieve daily, weekly and monthly tasks/targets including support on projects with medium/longer term horizons.
Problem solving and decision making
You will work under general direction from managers whilst applying agreed criteria to inform the decisions you make on applications, fee status queries and other decisions. You will be able to deal with more complex queries and be expected to resolve the majority of these.
Internal and external relationships
You will be expected to develop good working relationships with colleagues, contacts across the company supporting the University (including Housing and Accommodation Services, Finance, Student Funding Office, Registry, International Student Team) and stakeholders from outside the company supporting the University, including Teachers, Parents, and Overseas Agents.
