Job Description – Head, Emergency Department

Location: NCR Region (Delhi/NCR)

Position: Head of Emergency Department

Qualification (Mandatory): MD in Emergency Medicine / General Medicine / Anesthesia

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic medical professional to lead and manage the Emergency Department at our NCR facility. The Head of Emergency will be responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical governance, and operational efficiency within the department. The role requires both clinical expertise and strong leadership to guide a multidisciplinary emergency team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and supervision to the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure timely, evidence-based, and quality medical care for all emergency cases.
  • Oversee triaging, patient flow management, and critical care protocols.
  • Implement and monitor clinical protocols, SOPs, and quality standards in line with NABH/JCI accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments (ICU, Radiology, Surgery, etc.) for smooth patient referrals and transfers.
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of emergency physicians, medical officers, nurses, and paramedics.
  • Ensure 24x7 preparedness for trauma, medical, surgical, and disaster emergencies.
  • Monitor departmental performance, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
  • Manage departmental budget, resources, and staffing in coordination with hospital administration.
  • Drive continuous improvement, training programs, and adoption of best practices in emergency medicine.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Qualification: MD in Emergency Medicine (preferred) / General Medicine / Anesthesia (mandatory).
  • Experience: Minimum 10–12 years of post-MD clinical experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role in a tertiary care hospital.
  • Proven track record in handling critical emergencies, trauma care, and acute medical situations.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with medico-legal aspects and compliance in emergency medicine.
  • Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
