Role: 


Tails Trading Group are looking for an energetic & entrepreneurial General Manager (National) to join our exciting new India team. As our GM-India your focus will be to win and develop business within India with a focus on managing our back-end team in India to support UK operations. Your target customer base will be the wholesalers, exporters & importers, retailers, small and medium sized HoReCa operators etc and your role will be to setup relationships and help grow our business and the consumer brand category with them. You will need a keen eye for opportunities and the skills to unlock them through relationship building and commercial awareness.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and developing the best new account opportunities within the Indian retail sector (General & Modern trade) & HoReCa.
  • Driving the distribution and development of the full range of Tails’ products
  • Building partnerships with our trade customers to grow the category through Brand activation and brand development ideas.
  • Drive distribution, visibility, and rate of sale of our core brands, subsequently leveraging these listings to further establish distribution of the wider brand portfolio.
  • Liaise with the appropriate external RTM Sales Managers to work collaboratively, unearthing new opportunities to support existing distribution, and land new distribution, with a clear and robust ROS plan applied.
  • Partner with our 3rd party brands on activations and brand building, within the relevant area and prestige client / partner base (for example 5-star hotels, high-end cocktail bars and restaurants) and specific wholesalers/regional distributors.
  • Managing P&L, forecasting and internal accruals for your account base.
  • Manage the day-to-day requirements of backend operations team in India.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrative experience of quality Account Management within the Consumer Brands industry, including selling-in new products or range extensions.
  • Experience of new business development within the HoReCa and Wholesale and/or Retail sector desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of the designated region, and the key alcohol players within it.
  • An Enviable ‘network’ of existing relationships with key decision makers within the trade sector and a natural ability to develop relationships with people.
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian consumer brand landscape - brands, venues, trends, innovation.
  • Strong product knowledge spanning all categories of spirits, preferably along with an understanding of the wine & spirits category.
  • Demonstrative skills in commercial investment builds and management, including an understanding of spend vs costs and overall contributions.
  • Strong numeracy, language, and negotiation skills.
  • Good IT competency, including Microsoft Office 365 apps along with ability to produce engaging presentations.
  • Educated to masters degree standard or equivalent.
  • This role is office & field-based and will require regional travel and some national and international travel; a valid passport is therefore required.
  • Strong managerial skills to efficiently manage the team.
  • Strong knowledge of the Indian regulatory frameworks for importing and distributing various consumer brands in the Indian market.

Package:

  • Salary: INR 15lakhs p.a. + very attractive commission scheme. The salary will be reviewed once the probation scheme ends (6 months).
