The Regional Credit Head will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire credit underwriting and approval process for affordable housing loans across the designated region. The role involves ensuring robust credit risk assessment, adherence to policies, minimizing NPAs (Non-Performing Assets), and enhancing credit quality while supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Credit Underwriting & Appraisal:
  • Oversee credit underwriting for housing finance loan proposals within the designated region.
  • Evaluate borrower applications, financial capacity, property valuation, and loan viability.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and regulatory guidelines.
  1. Portfolio Management:
  • Monitor the health of the regional loan portfolio, focusing on credit quality and loan performance.
  • Analyze delinquency trends, identify root causes, and drive corrective measures to control NPAs.
  1. Policy Implementation:
  • Implement company’s credit and risk policies in the region.
  • Ensure uniform adherence to credit processes and provide suggestions to improve credit policies.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of Credit Managers/Analysts across multiple branches in the region.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance underwriting skills and credit acumen.
  1. Coordination with Sales & Operations:
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure business growth while maintaining credit discipline.
  • Collaborate with operations for seamless loan processing and TAT optimization.
  1. Risk Management:
  • Identify and mitigate credit risks proactively.
  • Analyze high-risk cases and ensure escalations are managed appropriately.
  1. Reporting & Analysis:
  • Generate and present reports on credit performance, approvals, rejections, and NPAs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for portfolio improvement to senior management.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to assess financials, risk factors, and loan proposals.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and motivate large teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of affordable housing loan underwriting and property appraisal.
  • Risk Management Acumen: Expertise in identifying and managing credit risks.
  • Decision-Making: Sound judgment in credit decisions while balancing risk and business growth.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Education: MBA (Finance), CA, or other relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in credit underwriting, risk management, or portfolio management, preferably in affordable housing finance or NBFCs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in credit appraisal systems, financial analysis tools, and MS Office.

  • Ensuring business growth with high-quality credit decisions.
  • Minimizing NPAs while maintaining strong regional portfolio health.
  • Enhancing team productivity and adherence to TATs.
  • Driving policy and process improvements across branches in the region.
Preferred Background
  • Experience in affordable housing finance, NBFCs, or retail credit lending.
  • Understanding of regional markets and customer segments in affordable housing.
