Key Responsibilities:


Financial Reporting and Analysis:


  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provide financial reports to the reporting head and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with university policies and accounting standards.


General Accounting:


  • Oversee general ledger functions and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Manage reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor and maintain accounting processes and procedures.


Budget Management:


  • Assist in the preparation and management of the university’s budget.
  • Provide budgetary recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Monitor departmental budgets and provide variance analysis.


Compliance and Audit:


  • Ensure compliance with university policies & state regulations.
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard university assets.


Accounts Payable and Receivable:


  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Manage collections and ensure accurate recording of receivables.


Payroll Management:


  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate with HR for accurate employee attendance, compensation and benefits accounting.


Team Leadership:


  • Supervise and mentor team.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.


Special Projects:


  • Participate in financial system upgrades and implementations.
  • Lead special projects as assigned by the Head of the department.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.


Experience:


  • Minimum of 7 to 12 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience managing accounting teams and overseeing financial operations.
