Job Title: Java Lead (Production Support)

Location: Pune

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Java Lead specializing in production support to lead our team in Pune. The ideal candidate will oversee the stability, performance, and reliability of Java-based applications, ensuring robust infrastructure, efficient workflows, and effective incident management. This role demands strong leadership in managing production environments, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, and driving continuous improvements through bug fixes, code reviews, and system enhancements.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Java production support engineers, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and efficient workflow management.
  • Provide technical guidance in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving production issues, including code-level interventions.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to team members to drive improvements.
  • Ensure the team follows best practices in incident management and problem resolution.

Production Support and Incident Management:

  • Oversee end-to-end incident management, ensuring rapid response and resolution to minimize downtime in production systems.
  • Manage the overall health of application infrastructure, ensuring system stability, scalability, and security.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and lead the implementation of permanent solutions to recurring issues.
  • Ensure all incidents and resolutions are thoroughly documented for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead on-call support efforts, coordinating with teams to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical production systems.

Application Infrastructure and Workflow Oversight:

  • Oversee the health and performance of the application infrastructure, ensuring efficient deployment, monitoring, and alerting systems are in place.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal system configuration, scaling, and infrastructure design.
  • Review workflows to ensure they align with production stability, identifying areas for automation, optimization, and process enhancement.

Code Reviews, Bug Fixing, and Enhancements:

  • Lead regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, prevent bugs, and ensure overall code quality.
  • Drive bug-fixing efforts, working with developers and engineers to quickly diagnose and resolve code-level issues.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement enhancements and upgrades that improve system performance and user experience.
  • Lead debugging efforts for complex issues, providing technical solutions and guidance to the team.

Continuous Improvement and Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and workflow optimization within the production support lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in production support, incident management, and Java-based applications.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in production support, with strong expertise in Java-based application infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in incident management, application infrastructure maintenance, and workflow optimization.
  • Familiarity with Java, Spring Framework, and RESTful APIs with a focus on troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure-related issues.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and logging frameworks (e.g., Log4j, SLF4J).
  • Expertise in bug fixing, debugging, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • ITIL certification is a plus.


Work Environment:

  • This position requires working from the office in Pune, Monday to Friday.
  • Occasional weekend work may be required to handle maintenance or critical incidents.
  • On-call support responsibilities are part of the role to address critical production issues.
