Job Description: LibrarianLocation: DPS Dwarka Expressway Department: Library & Resource Centre Position: Full-TimeRole OverviewThe Librarian will manage the school library and resource centre, ensuring efficient access to books, digital resources, and learning materials. The role focuses on fostering reading habits, supporting academic needs, and maintaining a well-organized, student-friendly library environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary ManagementOrganize, catalog, and maintain all books, journals, digital resources, and reference material.Manage library database, issue-return system, and student/teacher library accounts.Ensure proper shelving, inventory control, and regular stock verification.Maintain a clean, quiet, and conducive library space.Student & Teacher SupportAssist students in selecting books and using research/reference materials.Guide students on reading habits, research skills, and use of digital tools.Support teachers with curriculum-related resources and reading lists.Conduct library orientation sessions for new students.Library Programs & ActivitiesPlan and organize book fairs, reading week, author visits, storytelling sessions, and other literacy initiatives.Create reading challenges, displays, and bulletin boards to encourage literary engagement.Promote a culture of reading across the school.Administrative DutiesMaintain library records, reports, and documentation.Manage budget for library resources and coordinate with vendors and publishers.Update the library’s digital catalog and ensure proper functioning of library software.Ensure adherence to school policies and library guidelines.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s/Master’s degree in Library Science (B.Lib/M.Lib) from a recognized institution.Prior experience as a Librarian, preferably in a school setting.Knowledge of library management systems and digital cataloguing.Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, library software).Key SkillsStrong organizational and cataloguing skillsExcellent communication and student interaction skillsPassion for reading and literatureAbility to manage multiple tasks and maintain discipline in the libraryFamiliarity with digital learning resources and e-librariesHow to ApplyInterested candidates may send their CV to career@dpsgurgaon.in with the subject line: “Application for Librarian – DPS Dwarka Expressway”
