The role is often referred to as "compliance manager". A senior-level compliance officer position is called a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). Compliance officers often start their careers in another role within the company, such as in the legal department. They need to have a thorough understanding of the company and its market environment. A master's degree related to the industry can help with this, and many compliance officers pursue a Master's Degree in Law.
