Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Business Accountability Specialist to support the Operational Excellence - Governance & Change Management team.

This role acts as a specialist consultant to Operational Excellence executives and management, tracking and reporting on governance-related matters, executing business accountability initiatives, and managing partnerships with key stakeholders across the enterprise.

This role requires a highly-organized person who can synthesize and communicate information from multiple sources confidently and be comfortable executing independently. The successful candidate generally is recognized as an industry or subject matter expert in areas such as governance of enterprise-level programs, risk management or policy management.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership to develop or influence plans, specifications, resource needs, and goals for multi-faceted, highly complex, or long-term risk mitigation and control strategies on behalf of the business
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks which require understanding of business-specific knowledge related to financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT, systems security, business process management, and applicable business acumen
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to senior leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale, multi-faceted, long-term, or companywide strategies
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers companywide and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Lead execution of first-line monitoring for policy violations in partnership with Enterprise Policy Office and the BPM Policy team and report potential policy or procedure violations to responsible leaders
  • Present governance updates to key stakeholders across multiple levels of leadership
  • Drive comprehensive oversight of Operational Excellence business accountability activity in partnership with first-line Control and Corporate Risk partners
  • Lead development, SME review and publication of policies and procedures
  • Participate in Operational Excellence product/program cabinets as needed to provide front-line risk oversight, review, and challenge of change effort aspects
  • May lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
  • Overall 15+ years of relevant industry (banking/finance) experience
  • 5+ years of risk management, business controls, quality assurance, business operations, compliance, or process experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Understanding of corporate/enterprise function governance, with experience in driving adherence to policy and procedure expectations and providing governance consultation
  • Ability to influence executive decision-making, articulate proposed solutions to various levels of staff and leadership, and help create alignment across stakeholder groups
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with delivering executive-level presentations
  • Experience with authoring or interpreting corporate policies and procedures; legal experience is helpful
  • Experience with using data to build reporting and maintain governance effectiveness
  • Experience with committee management
  • Experience with Wells Fargo policy management and policy governance systems
  • Extensive experience and broad knowledge of risk and control program governance in order to provide leadership and guidance to the stakeholder community across Operational Excellence. The stakeholders are not experts on the requirements of the Operational Risk Program Policy and its associated policies, so we need to be able to train them.
  • Strong relationship management skills to partner with (and, in some cases, lead) our first-, second- and third-line risk partners.
  • Strong analytical and reporting experience to build and deliver aggregated risk management program status reporting.
  • Experience with authoring or interpreting corporate policies and procedures (legal experience is helpful) to translate policy and procedures into actionable activities.
  • Strong executive presence and presentation experience.
  • Recent Corporate Risk (Independent Risk Management) or front-line Control experience would be highly preferred.
