PositionResponsibilities:

  • BMS ArchitectureDesign: Designing the overall architecture and system topology ofthe BMS including the hardware and software components to ensureaccurate monitoring control and protection of the battery pack.
  • Cell Monitoring and Balancing: Designing thecircuitry and algorithms to monitor individual battery cellsvoltage temperature and state of charge (SOC) and implementing cellbalancing techniques to ensure uniform cell performance andmaximize the battery packs lifespan.
  • StateEstimation and Prediction: Developing algorithms to estimate thebatterys state of health (SOH) state of charge (SOC) and remainingenergy (SOE) accurately. This involves implementing battery modelsconsidering factors such as voltage sag internal resistance andbattery aging.
  • Thermal Management: Designingalgorithms and methods to monitor and manage the battery packstemperature ensuring safe and optimal performance. This includestemperature sensors cooling systems and thermal managementstrategies.
  • Safety and Fault Detection:Designing safety features such as overvoltage protectionundervoltage protection overcurrent protection and short circuitprotection. Implementing fault detection and diagnostic algorithmsto identify and manage potential system failures or abnormalities.
  • Communication and Integration: Designingcommunication interfaces to integrate the BMS with other vehiclesystems such as the vehicle control unit (VCU) and charginginfrastructure. This includes protocols like CAN bus for dataexchange.
  • Algorithm Development: Developingadvanced algorithms for predictive modeling state estimationoptimal charging powertrain integration and energy managementstrategies to improve the overall performance and efficiency of theelectric vehicle.
  • Testing and Validation:Conducting extensive testing and validation of the BMS designincluding functional testing performance testing and safety testingto ensure reliable operation and compliance with industrystandards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating withcrossfunctional teams including electrical engineers softwareengineers mechanical engineers battery pack designers and vehicleintegration specialists to ensure seamless integration andfunctionality of the BMS within the electric vehicle.
  • Stay Uptodate: Staying informed about the latestdevelopments in battery technologies BMS components algorithms andindustry standards to incorporate advancements and best practicesinto the BMS design.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience indesigning and developing lithiumion battery management systems forelectric vehicles preferably in an automotive or relatedindustry.
  • Proficiency in battery managementsystem hardware design including battery management integratedcircuits (ICs) sensors and communication interfaces
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C C andPython for developing battery management system software andalgorithms and communication protocols CAN 2.0AB
  • Familiarity with battery modeling state estimation andcontrol algorithms for optimized battery usage andlongevity
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle systemarchitecture including highvoltage systems power distribution andsafety considerations
  • Experience with batterytesting and validation methods including electrical thermal andenvironmental performance tests
  • Understandingof relevant industry standards and regulations such as ISO 26262AIS related to electric vehicle battery systems
