JOBDESCRIPTION

Werelooking for a category manager whocan

KeyResponsibilities:

MakingCompany the preferred FMCG buying destination (online and offline)for Kirana retailers all across India. Driving aggressive andprofitable growth in customer (Kirana retailer) base toplinebottomline and NPS for the Super Category In order to do this youwill needto:

Understand the needs of the customer based on

Visits to customers interactions with customer facing teams focusgroups customer delight ticketsetc.

Analysis of competing offerings available to the customers (acrossmultiple offline and onlinechannels)

Analysis of onapp behavior of customers (search traffic conversionfunneletc)

Understanding of market trends and factors shaping customer demandand industrydynamics

Use this understanding to define the customer value proposition andthe entire experience for the customer w.r.t. to thecategory

Create a category strategy and use this to develop annual categoryplansat

overallcategory and city/regional levels based on topdown and bottomupinputs

Translate into detailed and actionable monthly category plans withclearly defined owners andcheckpoints

Own execution of annual and monthly category plans to drive toplineand bottomlinegoals

Define the selection/assortment required to serve the needs of thetarget customer and work with Category Buyers to list theseproducts and drive their consistent availability on theplatform

Work with Central Marketing to drive the right traffic to the SuperCategoryand

fromthere to individualcategories

Improve discovery of the right products and drive higher conversionrates

Work with the Catalog and Products teams to improve catalog quality&showcase

attributesto help customers make better and faster buyingdecisions

Work with Product teams to improve organic category navigation andsearch

Own creation and execution of targeted promotions &campaigns Trackcampaign

performancedaily and work with merchandising and marketing teams to improveROI.

Work with Business Operations and Price Benchmarking teams to builda robust price benchmarking process (offline and online) and ensurecompetitivepricing

Own the Category P&L and customerexperience

Provide accurate demand projections to Category Buyers to ensureconsistent availability and reduction of slow/nonmoving inventoryand liquidationlosses

Provide regular inputs to category buyers to help them drive highROI investment for brand partners to achieve their strategicobjectives

Drive ongoing improvements in customer experience pertaining to thecategory by clearly translating customer requirements for productsupply chain and buyingteams

Create a robust process for quickly identifying and highlightingany qualityissues

relatingto product quality or customerexperience

Work with city and regional level Customer Growth teams to drivecity/ regional level goals on overall growth andprofitability

Hire train and mentor a team (Category planning category marketingand category managers) to execute this strategy across 50100 citiesacrossIndia

Requiredskills andExperience:

Musthave:

4 10 years of overall experience with at least 3 years of category/P&L management in ecommercemarketplaces

2 years of experience in hiring and developing teams from top tierinstitutions

Sound business judgment and an ability to evaluate and managemultiple competing priorities using metrics anddata

Strong planning and analytical skills with advanced proficiency inExcel and exposure to largedatasets

High attention to detail and willingness to dive deep intodata

Willingness to go into the field to visit kiranaretailers

Excellent communication and negotiation skills Ability to influencea variety stakeholders without relying on positionalauthority

Ability to create robust scalable and repeatable processes forcategorymanagement

Experience working with product and technology teams as theirprimary businessstakeholder

Ability to work independently with limited support in a fastpacedhigh growthenvironment

Preferred:

FMCG sales/ brand marketing/ strategy consulting/ entrepreneurialexperience

SQL/ R / Pythonproficiency

Passionate about food andgrocery
