About the role: 

The purpose of the role is to manage the security devices of Telstra’s Tier1 and 2 clients. The management of the devices includes configuration updates, incident resolution, and project implementation. Ensure technical support and specialist team members are supported to deliver rapid restoration of customer incidents.  Work directly with the customer to achieve optimal first in fix results.  Apply a holistic approach to problem management to improve service reliability. Demonstrate SME leadership of technology hubs via the Customer Support Team model.

To be successful in the role, you’ll. 

  • Perform or participate in complex, specialised technical investigations to drive the resolution of Firewall incidents in the customers network.
  • Diagnose and restore complex issues with the Security networks, infrastructure, products and services supplied and operated by Telstra.
  • Assist technical support and specialist team members to resolve incidents via first call resolution.
  • Analyse incident volumes to determine problem management opportunities that translate to volume reductions.
  • Detect and prevent incidents before they occur.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve process, efficiencies and customer experience.

  • Have the ability to support/implement/design firewall requirements (e.g. Palo Alto, Cisco – ASA/PIX, CSM, Juniper- Junos/ ScreenOS - NSM – STRM, Checkpoint, Nokia, Provider 1)
  • Security Related Products
  • A working understanding of the installation and configuration of security related products and their relationship to firewall implementations. Including:
  • proxies i.e. Bluecoat, Cisco WAE,
  • DNS appliances i.e Infoblox,
  • Load balancers i.e F5
  • Server products     
  • A working understanding of applicable Security Technologies and experience in the basic administration and configuration of Linux based operating systems. 
  • ITIL Skills
  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework and its application in IT service management.

Qualification – 

Essential

  • 5-10 years working in IT industry.
  • CCNA/CCNP- in security/SD-WAN or similar certification.
  • Incident Management Experience.

Demonstrated experience in the follow

  • Operating Systems
    • Sun Solaris
    • Windows Server platform
  • Firewall Software: at least two of the following:
    • Palo Alto
    • Juniper SRX
    • Cisco ASA
    • Juniper NetScreen
    • Cisco PIX
    • Fortinet
    • Checkpoint Firewalls
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and sub-netting.

High desirable –

  • Automation/Scripting Skills/API.
