What is an electricalengineer

Electrical engineers develop and testelectronic products and systems for a wide range of projects fromsmallscale (e.g. household devices) to largescale (e.g. electricalpower systems). They operate in several disciplines such as PowerEngineering Signal Processing and Microelectronics based on theirexpertise.

What does an electrical engineerdo

Electrical engineers apply the principles ofelectricity electronics and electromagnetism to develop electricalproducts and systems. They perform risk assessments and ensurecompliance with safety standards and electrical engineering codes.They also conduct research to create new applications.

Responsibilities
  • Design control and implement electrical systems andproducts
  • Develop manufacturing processesaccording to global engineering codes and standards
  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them ontime
  • Define customer needs andrequirements
  • Ensure that installations andapplications are in line with customer needs and safetystandards
  • Collaborate with engineers andtechnicians to design and apply new system processes
  • Perform quality and performance analysis on new andlegacy IT systems
  • Summarize data and report ontest results
  • Examine needs on new equipmentcalculate costs and help prepare budgets
  • Monitor maintenance and inspection plans
Requirements
  • Proven expertise as an electrical engineer
  • Handson experience using design and calculationsoftware
  • Deep knowledge of electricalmanufacturing processes
  • Understanding ofelectrical engineering codes and safety standards
  • Problemsolving abilities
  • Attentionto detail
  • Strong organizational andcommunication skills
  • A degree in ElectricalEngineering; MSc is a plus
