Summary:

Designs, develops and manages activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Serves as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Role Overview:

VIAVI Solutions is looking for a Senior Product Manager to guide our product strategy for our important products. You would be responsible for product planning and execution all through the lifecycle of the business which is inclusive of gathering and prioritizing requirements for the product, defining the vision for the product, and collaborating with other leaders from the product design, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that the financial and customer satisfaction goals are met. 
 In addition to this, you will also ensure that that the company’s overall strategy and goals are supported by those of the product; that the product goals and strategy do not deviate from those of the business.

Role Expectations: 

A Senior Product Manager at VIAVI is expected to: 

Plan, manage and drive delivery for a feature space / core part of the VIAVI Portfolio of Artificial Intelligenceproducts

Come up with innovative Product Features that are essential to the Product vision contributing to both VIAVI and its customers.

Interface directly with key business stakeholders, engineers & designers to debate requirements, drive decisions & measure success 

Oversee product operations/ go to market for features & projects to drive adoption 

Establish effective operating mechanisms to undertake large projects across multiple teams & stakeholders 

Conduct product reviews with senior management for their area of ownership 

Have a keen understanding of the relevant market(s) & customers they are building for 

Seek & share learnings to improve their own capabilities as well as those of their team.

Responsibilities: 

Define:  Define the vision, success metrics and feature requirements. Own the product roadmap to achieve the goals and strategy for a key area of our business. Define the long-term strategy and vision for the product, leveraging broad customer research, customer experience and innovative technologies to deliver features to our customers

Represent:  Represent the voice of the customer to make sound business decisions that solve key problems for the customer 

Analyze:  Extract actionable insights by analyzing, data and conducting market research to prioritize the most critical problems to solve through technology 

Collaborate:  Partner with business stakeholders, design, and engineering teams and drive an inclusive and innovation-focused culture of evaluating product ideas. Manage two-way communications with key stakeholders including senior management. 

Execute:  Drive execution by writing specs, creating mockups, conducting acceptance tests, and doing whatever it takes to launch features quickly across the organization 

Lead:  Lead cross-functional teams, mentor younger PMs and contribute towards building a stronger product culture at VIAVI.

Requirements: 

This may be the right next role for you if: 

You have 8+ years of experience overall with at least 6 years of experience in product management roles with consumer focused or enterprise solutions companies. 

You excel at both strategy and execution. You are equally comfortable at crafting a long-term vision, going into the details of the release going next week and analyzing the issues with what went live last month. 

You love and understand technology. You do not need to have a background in software engineering (bonus if you do), but you can have intricate conversations with your tech teams. 

You obsess about doing the right thing for your customers. You consider yourself a representative of the customer inside the organization and go beyond understanding their pain points. 

You can go deep into data to drive actionable insights and then you can use those insights to ship amazing products to our customers. 

You have excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management skills. You understand how to tell your story, listen to others’ viewpoints, and then drive a decision that is the best for the customer and the business. 

You have experience in working with a Startup or have owned a Product right from Conception to go-live.

(Not mandatory, but strongly preferred) You have an MBA (or a master's degree in a relevant field) from a Top Indian/Global Business School/University and/or a degree in Engineering from a top engineering college. 

(Not mandatory, but strongly preferred) Previous experience in Telecom Analytics, SoftwareorSaaS Products

(Not mandatory, but nice to have) You have experience mentoring/managing younger PMs.
