Purpose Of The Role

The head of cyber security is an operational and strategic position involved with all key stakeholders and shall be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the university and campus cyber security. The core focus of this position will be to monitor and safeguard the digital assets and data of the university


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Design and implement a cyber security strategy
  • Define, Implement, and monitor enterprise information security and IT risk management program
  • Work directly with the digital development and service operations team for risk assessment and risk management processes
  • Assist the Operations team with overall technology and security operations.
  • Proactive risk assessment and management of all risks associated with the IT environment
  • Communicate risks and mitigation recommendations with the system administrator and operations head
  • Execute VA / PT and ensures vulnerabilities are managed by directing periodic vulnerability scans of servers, and network devices connected to university networks.
  • Manage Antivirus systems and tools
  • Manage Information security incidents and problem management. Evaluate security incidents and determine response, if any, is needed and coordinate University responses, including technical incident response teams, when sensitive information is breached
  • Conduct information security awareness training and education programs, works with faculty, staff, and students, and participate in awareness and education events, as appropriate.
  • Act proactively to prevent potential disaster situations by ensuring proper protections are set up e.g., intrusion detection and prevention systems, firewalls, and effective physical safeguards, and provide for the availability of computer resources.
  • Testing and Implementation of mitigation and protection for all devices and applications across all vulnerabilities
