This role is part of the Treasury organization within American Express Finance. Global Treasury Operations (GTO) is organized by geographic regions and has global responsibility for cash management, operational funding/investment, foreign exchange exposure management activities, and banking services conducted by the Global Treasury organization. On a daily basis this worldwide team is executing on American Express’ funding and balance sheet management strategies in a highly controlled manner.

The Vice President Global Treasury Operations (APAC) will:

Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Treasury professionals to accomplish Company, Finance and Treasury goals and enhance employee engagement, development, and diversity. Those goals are inclusive of the items below. Ensure that Global Treasury operates within a strong control and compliant operating environment by ensuring that processes managed by GTO-APAC meet or exceed regulatory, AXP policy and other relevant standards and operate with knowledge of and in consideration of the competitive framework. Manage cash flow process, including forecasting for AXP entities across the APAC region ensuring operating requirements are fulfilled, cost of funds is optimized, and any future liquidity needs are identified in time. Manage APAC restricted currency markets’ FX trading to protect AXP from FX rate volatility, including hedging of foreign assets & liabilities. Provide SME support to assess FX risk and implement FX hedging strategies for new products, business development strategies and compliance with Global FX trading regulations. Leverage automation, big data, and GenAI to ensure Cash flow and FX processes and controls evolve at a pace consistent with the operating environment. Lead the Global Bank Services COE responsible for managing AXP bank account lifecycle - opening/ maintenance/closing, and ensures bank service fees in-scope are compliant and appropriately allocated; Administer bank system access for transactional bank accounts. As leader of Bank Services COE, partner with Business Unit stakeholders to rationalize AXP banking architecture, and provide transactional banking advisory support to Business Units looking to engage with external bank partners and implement new banking infrastructure.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The Vice President of Global Treasury Operations (APAC) plays a key role in the cash management; operational funding and investment; banking services; and foreign exchange exposure management activities conducted by the Global Treasury organization. 

As a member of the GTO leadership team and, as one of its senior leaders, this individual will partner extensively with other teams within Treasury, our business units located in APAC, and senior leaders across the enterprise.

Essential Skills:

Results oriented, with a track record of driving results across multiple initiatives. Strong analytical and financial skills are required, project management skills and Treasury technology experience is a plus. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners across Treasury for consolidation of reporting. Self-motivated, pro-active individual with excellent attention to detail. Ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and time management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Treasury and/or financial reporting knowledge Strong leadership and people skills, ability to operate effectively within large cross-functional teams and influence business partners to drive transformational change. Persuasive communication, presentation, and writing skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects, improve processes, and work well under time-pressured deadlines. Highly proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

Deep background and experience with process/operational management including experience leading a daily operational function. Sophisticated and experience-based knowledge of Treasury disciplines and expertise in APAC market payment systems and processes.
