The company is a leading real estatedeveloper focused on Residential and Commercial projects and basedout of Bangalore.They are looking for anAVPLegal who will head the legal function and report to theCMD.The ideal candidate will come with deepexpertise in the Real Estatesector.
JobRole:
LegalStrategy and Oversight:
  1. Develop andimplement legal strategies aligned with the companys goals andobjectives.
  2. Provide strategic legal advice andguidance to senior management and the board ofdirectors.
  3. Oversee all legal activitiesensuring compliance with applicable laws regulations and industrystandards.

ContractManagement:
  1. Review draft andnegotiate a wide range of contracts including constructionagreements subcontractor agreements vendor contracts and jointventure agreements.
  2. Ensure that contracts areproperly executed and that the companys interests are protected inall contractualarrangements.

RiskManagement:
  1. Identify legal risksassociated with construction projects transactions and businessoperations.
  2. Develop and implement riskmitigation strategies to minimize legal exposure and protect thecompanys assets andreputation.

Litigationand Dispute Resolution:
  1. Manage alllegal disputes claims and litigation matters involving the companyincluding construction disputes contract disputes and regulatoryenforcement actions.
  2. Collaborate with externalcounsel and represent the company in legal proceedings asnecessary.

RegulatoryCompliance:
  1. Stay abreast of changesin construction laws regulations and industrystandards.
  2. Ensure compliance with allapplicable regulatory requirements including building codesenvironmental regulations safety regulations and licensingrequirements.

CorporateGovernance:
  1. Oversee corporategovernance matters including board meetings corporate filings andcompliance with corporate governance bestpractices.
  2. Advise senior management and theboard on corporate governance issues andresponsibilities.

Mergersand Acquisitions (M&A) and CorporateTransactions:
  1. Provide legal supportfor mergers acquisitions joint ventures and other corporatetransactions.
  2. Conduct due diligence reviews andassess legal risks associated with potentialtransactions.

LegalTraining and Development:
  1. Developand implement legal training programs for employees across theorganization.
  2. Provide guidance and mentorshipto legal department staff and other employees on legal mattersrelevant to theirroles.

StakeholderManagement:
  1. Build and maintainpositive relationships with internal stakeholders including seniormanagement department heads and projectteams.
  2. Interact with external stakeholdersincluding clients regulatory authorities government agencies andindustryassociations.

Budgetingand Resource Management:
  1. Prepare andmanage the legal departments budget including forecasting expensesand allocating resources effectively.
  2. Optimizethe use of internal and external legal resources to achievecosteffectiveoutcomes.

RequirementsQualificationandSkills:
  • Bachelorsdegree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; additionalqualifications such as an MBA or LLM may bepreferred.
  • Admission to the bar and activelicense to practice law in the relevantjurisdiction.
  • Extensive experience (typically10 years) in legal practice with a focus on construction law realestate law or corporate law.
  • Proven leadershipand management skills with experience leading a legal team ordepartment.
  • Strong knowledge of constructionindustry practices regulations and standards. Excellent analyticalnegotiation and problemsolvingabilities.
  • Effective communication skills bothverbal and written with the ability to convey complex legalconcepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Abilityto work under pressure manage multiple priorities and meetdeadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Highethical standards and integrity with a commitment to upholding thehighest level of professionalconduct.
