The opportunity

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Specialist who would be based at Gurugram office to lead into a supervisor role (Individual Contributor) and supports the group’s indirect tax team with expert knowledge of North America (APAC & Europe indirect tax exposure is of added advantage) along with Technical skills like power app/query, Automation, Macros, Visual Basics etc. Said position will be reporting to the Sr Advisor- Indirect Tax .

Indirect Tax Compliance team is responsible for preparing and lodging various returns with Tax Authorities (GST, VAT, Ad Valorem, Production Tax, Federal Excise & Custom Taxes); monitor clearing of VAT/GST accounts; perform and/or review testing of transactions to verify accuracy; This role requires liaise with other teams to remediate issues; provide technical assistance in improvement/automation projects, and monitor updates to procedure documents, support audits and other tasks related to indirect tax/finance.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for an individual to be involved and showcase his/her tax & technical abilities to lead/manage complex projects & taxation matters. You will be responsible for:

Data wrangling, validation & assessment of exemption to assess the tax liability for Sales & Use tax along with various other type of Indirect Taxes Property tax , GST , VAT etc. Manage and update workbooks/lodgement files to keep them up to date Ensuring proper reconciliations, GL review, journal postings and other ancillary activities  Preparation of tax returns for various APAC/North America jurisdiction (all or any of them) and ensure tax payments on timely manner Monitor and analyse proposed and enacted North America indirect tax legislations and assist in defining and implementing appropriate local country tax planning strategies Flexible to play active role in implementing automations/improvement as assignments Indirect tax. Support in handling Indirect tax Audits conducted by authorities in North America/ APAC /Europe Abundant hands-on experience of North America Sales Tax, Use Tax and Property Tax Working experience/knowledge of laws like GST and QST Analytical exposure in respect to Tax Engines like Vertex or similar Practical knowledge around Filing returns/tax exemption/claim refunds/dealing with tax authorities Support team members and participating in ad hoc tasks (including MIS)

What you will need for this role

To be successfully considered for this role, you should have: 

A Professional Qualification in the field of Finance/Accounting Finance/Commerce Graduate/Post Graduate or CA or Equivalent Degree/Diploma Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in finance /taxation services /Project management Indirect tax experience for North America region and APAC, Europe IDT exposure is of added advantage. Understanding of Finance & Accounting processes. Good hands-on experience of MS office/Power App/VB and other commonly used Taxation tools Experience with SAP, Vertex, Blackline Fluency in English (written and spoken) & Excellent stakeholder management
