Understand the L&T Heavy Civil Infrastructure IC EHS Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure it is implemented throughout all L&T Civil Infrastructure BU operations and projects. Understand & promote L&T L.I.F.E.(Living – Injury – Free – Everyday) program and Zero Harm Vision  Ensure L&T L.I.F.E. EHS leadership training program is delivered throughout the projects.  Support project set up and early mobilization  Stop work if unsafe practices are witnessed and promote a ‘Don’t Walk by & Commitment to Action attitude’ at all times.  Co-ordinate all L&T HCI IC project EHS matters by receiving regular reports, making EHS visits, and ensuring that information is circulated to keep all concerned fully informed.  Carry out EHS Risk Management to ensure each project is audited twice in a year.  Advice the Business Unit heads / Project Heads areas of weakness within the EHS IMS and implementation of the system.  Provide EHS reports to the HCI IC EHS Head, Business Unit Heads and project Heads to inform them of the status of EHS performance.  Co-ordinate the activities of independent EHS Consultants.  Generate an awareness of EHS as an integral part of good management.  Make recommendations to the appropriate management on all matters relating to EHS.  Support project incident investigations and review reports prior to issue to management. Attend all fatal and serious injuries cases.  Collate and collect accident, incident and near miss reports. Prepare reports and distribute information on EHS matters relative to the prevention of accidents and matters relating to general EHS performance to L&T HCI IC EHS Head.  Maintain effective communications with the Project EHS Managers, Project Heads, and Business Unit Heads & BU Heads to ensure an adequate flow of EHS information relating to the L&T HCI IC EHS performance.  Attend Business Unit EHS Management review meeting every 12 months.  Coordinate monthly meetings with Project EHS In-charges.  Monitor the provision of EHS training and advice on training requirements.  Liaise with the HR function to ensure that records of training are fully maintained within the Business Unit.  When requested provide input into the tendering process to ensure that statutory requirements are planned into projects at the earliest opportunity.  Visit L&T HCI IC projects on a regular basis, meeting with the project leaders, JV partners, clients and report to the Business Unit Head on the findings  Use disciplinary procedures in consultation with the Business Unit Head & HR Head if any employee or contractor is careless with regard to their own or others EHS.  Shall attend EHS Orientation before going in to the field.  Shall fully understand the L&T Corporate EHS Policy & Project EHS Policy, HCI IC EHS IMS procedures, CEHSS and guidelines & Project EHS plans. Shall be aware and fully comply with L&T Golden Safety Rules & emergency procedures. Shall know their EHS Task and Targets set by the project manager/supervisors. Shall take reasonable care for their personal EHS and that of fellow employees and anyone else who may be affected by acts or omissions, and co-operate with others in carrying out their duties. Shall ensure that he has received adequate EHS training as per project EHS training matrix to adequately carry out their job function. Shall ensure that proper Risk assessment is made and communicated to them before receiving any task from managers/supervisors. Take responsibilities of permits requirements relevant to your work activities and implement the control measures identified. Shall wear appropriate protective clothing correctly and use equipment at all times as instructed. Shall report all hazards, unsafe conditions and/or unsafe equipment to immediate supervisors. Shall stop and/or report unsafe practices or potentially unsafe practices witnessed at work. Shall report all accidents, incidents and near misses whether or not they result in any injury or damage to immediate supervisors. Shall ensure that the work place is kept clean and tidy and that escape routes are kept clear at all times. Never, under any circumstances, work in an unsafe manner. Don’t start your work unless you are made clear off what to be done and what not to be. Never interfere with or misuse anything provided for their EHS or welfare. Always ask for assistance and guidance on any matter that relates to the EHS at work. Employees are reminded that a breach of EHS policy/procedures could possibly result in disciplinary action being taken by the management. Shall attend EHS Orientation before going in to the field. Accompany Project Heads on EHS Tours Advise the Project Head areas of weakness within the EHS IMS, EHS plans and implementation of the system.
