About The Humming Tree

The Outlet making its comeback is an arts, music, and performance space located in the heart of Bangalore. Known for its eclectic programming and vibrant atmosphere, It is a home for music lovers, creatives, and cultural explorers. We host everything from live gigs, art showcases, workshops, film screenings, and pop-up events. We are looking for a dynamic and driven Head of Operations to oversee our daily operations and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Role Overview

As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end operations. This includes venue management, event execution, team coordination, vendor management, and ensuring a seamless experience for both artists and audiences. You'll work closely with the creative and programming teams to translate ideas into flawless execution while upholding the culture and ethos of the space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Venue Management: Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the venue including facilities, F&B, staffing, safety protocols, and overall guest experience.
  • Event Operations: Lead operations for all events, ensuring smooth load-ins, soundchecks, scheduling, artist hospitality, and front-of-house management.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the operations team including support staff, security, tech crew, and hospitality.
  • Vendor & Partner Coordination: Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers; negotiate contracts and manage budgets.
  • Compliance & Licensing: Ensure adherence to legal, safety, and regulatory requirements including licenses, permits, and health & safety norms.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage operational budgets; ensure efficient resource allocation and cost controls.
  • Experience Design: Work closely with programming and creative teams to deliver an exceptional experience for audiences, artists, and collaborators.
  • Crisis Management: Be the point person during any operational issues, emergencies, or last-minute event changes.
  • Technology & Tools: Leverage tools and systems to streamline operations, ticketing, staff scheduling, and event reporting.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience (6+ years) in operations, venue management, live events, or hospitality.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, crisis management, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for music, arts, and cultural events is a huge plus.
  • Comfortable working late nights and weekends, in alignment with event schedules.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in creative/cultural venues or start-up environments.
  • Familiarity with Bangalore's cultural landscape and event ecosystem.
  • Tech-savvy with knowledge of event management tools, POS systems, and scheduling software.
