Fleet maintenance Assoc Manager

Purpose of the position 

"Fleet In charge" role is responsible to manage integrated truck & tank maintenance facility. He /She manage

fleet safety, reliability & maintenance aspects by executing preventive & predictive maintenance plans,

introducing new & retro fitment of technology, tank / truck/ trailer rehab projects and efficiency improvement

projects. He / She will manage workshop activities & associated workforce following stipulated safety, statutory,

quality guidelines and provide safety & reliable feet maintenance solution to deliver team.

Principal responsibilities

1. Integrated Maintenance Facility (Tank & Truck) - Diagnostics & PM Plan.

 Performs trouble shooting as per diagnostics procedure on vehicles and equipment.

 Record observations and findings during diagnostics run and decide on the correct method of

repair as per OEM standard guidelines.

 Plan and organize Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and delegate specific tasks to concerned

section/mechanic.

 Supervise and follow up on actual progress of each individual repair job & timely update to

Distribution Engineers.

 Follow up repair order, registering the time taken to complete each task & update to Distribution

Engineers.

 Develop a smart tip to keep vehicle up to date to prevent enroute breakdowns & minimize downtime

 Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities, especially Crtical issues.

 Conduct final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks prior to release.

 Review the performance of transport tank thru system (% transit loss data) and Prioritize substandard

tanker for rehabilitation.

 Conduct Vehicle & tank health analysis of substandard tanker incurring losses and submit the report

for Rehab and replacement to Distribution Engineers.

 Conduct at least Two meeting /month with drivers along with RDM to address Maintenance

grievances.

 Responsible for Zero Preventable Break Downs & Zero Catastrophic vehicle failures.

 Attend the Weekly Departmental Meeting as scheduled by the Distribution Engineers.

1. Inventory Management

 Responsible to Control & Optimize the Inventory stocks (Tank & Truck)

 Forecast demand & fine tune real time stock inventory (ABC) to maintain the critical spares thru

PR/PO to Prevent maintenance delays due to non-availability of spares.

 Review the critical spare stocks and order for specific jobs/special job for stocks replenishment.

1. Activity report & MIS

 Consolidate and Analyze the historical work order data to identify the facility weak zones, incurring

Equipment failure /Breakdowns thru systematic RCA & Submit corrective actions report.

 Report Break down within 24 prescribed format to alert Planner & Distribution team on ETA on

road.

 Maintain & submit comprehensive activity Tracker (Tank & Tuck) maintenance / Ongoing projects.

 Maintain the stock in inventory management system and send the monthly stock & utilization report.

 Record the Maintenance Services provided to Contractor vehicle & Generate the invoice thru system.

Submit the report.

1. Work Force Periodic Training & Certification Program.

 Provide on-the-job training as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics and helpers.

 Organize Vocational & Certification programme (Welding, Engine Simulation Mechanics)

 Evaluate the training needs to Workforce and initiate as per the guidelines of Distribution Engineers

1. Documentation & Statutory Compliance

 Maintenance Job Card / Service Manuals/ GRN/Invoices

 Calibration & Test certificates / Training Records.

 Tank / Truck service warranty.

 Tank & Truck /facility Inspection & Statutory compliance.

 working hours Records of contractor employees as per factory regulation

 Record Signs and approves workshop employee timesheets & Salaries.

 Support and full comply with Company and Departmental policies and procedures.

1. Maintenance Productivity & KPI's

 Coordinate with Distribution Engineers (Tank & Truck) and Carry out distinctive tests and field trials for

Cost saving projects.

 Responsible for the pre-preparation activities of Chassis Changeover and Product conversion.

 Emphasis & establish the timeline for the assigned Projects & update monthly status.

 Initiate E-MOC(Distribution) for any changes or modification in the design process.

 Focus & Sustain Distribution core KPI'S like – R&M Cost /KM, % Transit Loss, Tons/Trip, Fleet down

time, Break down Hrs, etc.

1. Vehicle & Workshop Safety

 Responsible for the implementation of 5S and other SHEQ standard within the workshop area.

 Maintenance data analysis on accident /Incident investigation to identify the gaps to improve

 Coordinate and Ensure Maintenance relevant RCA actions are in place & closure on time.

 Manage facility safety audits and initiate corrective actions.

 Share Global alerts, bulletin, safety campaigns with team leaders.

 Conduct regular Safety Pep talk with Mechanics & Technicians.

1. Contractors Performance Review

 Conduct contractor Maintenance crew performance evaluation & initiate actions to replace, if it is

affecting the vehicle performance.

 Responsible for Predelivery inspection & roadworthiness of Tractors / Trailers / Cryogenic Vessels.

 3rd party Workshop technical Qualification & Perform Periodic review for the process improvements.

 Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures involved in maintenance repairs and replacement.

 Hands on 'real-world' Automobile experience and practical knowledge.

• Proficiency in (Microsoft Office, Excel, Auto CAD, 3D Modelling.)

• Ability to take quick decisions based on circumstances, data support system

• Awareness about the statutory and corporate rules and regulations

• Background in 5S and SHEQ

• Good understanding of the internal and external interface.

• Ability to co relate the fleet maintenance Spare consumption / Downtime data with overall workshop

performance.

Required qualifications/experience.

• Minimum B.E /Diploma in Automobile Engineering with sound technical background.

• Minimum 6 years of field experience preferably in Automobile manufacturing units (Light / heavy

vehicles)

• Experience in reputed automotive sectors like Volvo, Benz, Scania, Ashok Leyland, Tata will be an added

advantage.

• Experience of managing various interfaces as transporters, statutory bodies for strengthening the overall

logistics functions will be an added advantage.
