Role & responsibilities

1. Design Development:

  • Prepare and review mechanical designs, layout drawings, and 3D models using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications for mechanical systems, components, and assemblies.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., ASME, API, IS), and customer requirements.

2. Engineering Calculations:

  • Perform engineering calculations for stress analysis, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mechanical integrity.
  • Conduct sizing and selection of mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, etc.).

3. Review & Coordination:

  • Review vendor documents and drawings for equipment and packages.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (electrical, instrumentation, civil, piping) for integrated design.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to clarify technical requirements.

4. Project Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain engineering deliverables such as:
  • Equipment datasheets
  • Technical specifications
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Design Basis Reports
  • Material Take-Offs (MTO)
  • Participate in design reviews (P&ID, 3D model, HAZOP, etc.)

5. Support to Procurement & Construction:

  • Provide technical input for procurement activities: equipment selection, vendor evaluation, and TQ resolution.
  • Assist site/construction teams with design clarifications and engineering support during execution.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and performance testing when required.

6. Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and engineering procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, and support NCR/DR resolution.

7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to design optimization and value engineering exercises.
  • Keep updated with industry trends, tools, and new technologies relevant to mechanical design.
