Where You Come In

We are looking for an energetic and dynamic pedagogue with a demonstrated mindset to combine scholarly achievements, teaching excellence and service to the Polytechnic and Community for the position of Departmental HoD of any Branch of Polytechnic.

Duties & Responsibilities of HOD

1. ADMINISTRATIVE WORK OF THE Department/ Division entrusted by the Principal as head/ Administrator / Organisation overall in charge.
2. Teaching in Practical / Theory subjects as assigned by the Principal/Department and remedial classes for poor-performing students.
3. Maintain Attendance Registers of the students, Lesson Plans, Assessment Registers and progress Register/Reports, etc.
4. Supervision/Verification of Attendance Registers of the students, Lesson Plans, Assessment Registers and progress Register/Reports etc, prepared by other Faculties of the department / Course as assigned by the Principal.
5. Duties connected with the conduct of Admission, Examination, and Evaluation of Examination of the students.
6. Conducting Awareness Programmes on Career Opportunities for the organization.
7. Conducting Seminars, webinars and various academic workshops etc., relating to the Department.
8. Develop Learning materials/Resource materials for Theory and Laboratory classes.
9. R&D work on Industrial problems and Projects, and other work for the promotion of Industry Institute Partnership.
10. Active participation in NAB, QCI, ISO and various inspection work/professional bodies.
11. Perform training and consultancy work for Internal Revenue Generation.
12. Publication of Technical papers in Journals.
13. Preparation and submission of Project Proposal for funding to the Institute from External Sources and other resource mobilisation for the Institute.
14. Participating in refresher courses for up-gradation of knowledge and skill / FDP / Webinar / SWAYAM / Other professional bodies etc.
15. Guiding students for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, start-up and Hackathon etc.
16. Dissemination of information for students development and community development.
17. Accompanying students in study visits/Industrial training of the students.
18. Remain in charge of additional responsibility of the institution such as Library/ Hostel / Examination etc and extracurricular activities such as Games and sports, Cultural Association, Eco Club, Idea lab, various committees etc.
19. Conduct Employment-generating/ Skill development Training Programme for unemployed youth wherever assigned.
20. Perform students counselling and act as proctor of students.
21. Perform different placement-related activities.
22. Prepare and maintain the different Reports and Returns, and also the MIS of various kinds in the Institution as assigned.
23. Perform such work related to maintenance and upkeep of Equipment, Laboratories, Buildings and other institution properties.
24. Perform duties connected to supervision/inspection of different works at other institutions wherever assigned.
25. Public relations for institutional development and community development.
26. Convening parent-teacher meetings and also interacting with students for their well-being.
27. Organising and co-coordinating different Consultancy work for IRG and working on different industrial and socially relevant projects.
28. Development and Management of Institutional Infrastructure / Facilities.
29. Perform duties assigned by Organization, SCTE&VT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar/DTE&T, Odisha, Cuttack / SD&TE Department and CGU.
30. Perform any other work in the interest of the institution/public duty as assigned by the Principal/Organisation/Administrator etc.

Who Are We Looking For

• Candidates with a consistently First Class academic record (minimum 60%) throughout their career.
• Educational Qualifications:
• First Class Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• First Class Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent specialization.
• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from a recognized Indian University or an accredited foreign university (mandatory as per AICTE/UGC norms).
• Experience:
• Minimum 2-3 years of teaching/research experience, out of which at least 3 years must be in a Professor/Head/administrative role.
• Strong record of research, publications in reputed journals, and academic leadership.
• Additional Qualification :

Candidate having additional qualification with a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as the case may be considered in getting more weightage.
