 Job description of QC Chemist - FMCG ❖ Job title: QC Chemist - FMCG ❖ Department: Quality control ❖ Geography covered: Corporate office, Manufacturing Unit. ❖ Reports to: QA-QC Manager ❖ Matrix: Plant Manager, Director. ❖ Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical QC Chemist to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products. You will be responsible for conducting a variety of tests on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. ❖ Key Responsibilities:
• Perform analytical testing using a variety of techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, wet chemistry)
• Analyse and interpret test results to identify potential quality issues.
• Document all testing procedures and results according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Participate in the development and validation of new analytical methods.
• Conduct stability testing to ensure product shelf life.
• Investigate and troubleshoot any deviations from quality specifications.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive quality control documentation.
• Work effectively with production and other departments to ensure product quality.
• Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.
• Stay up to date on relevant scientific advancements and regulatory requirements.
❖ Key Results Areas (KRAs): 1. Quality Assurance: Ensure all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products meet quality specifications. 2. Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records in accordance with GMP. 3. Timeliness: Deliver test results within established timelines to support production. 4. Problem Solving: Effectively identify and resolve quality control issues. 5. Efficiency: Continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory processes. 6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all QC activities comply with relevant regulations. 7. Method Development: Successfully develop and validate new analytical methods. 8. Communication: Communicate test results and quality issues clearly and concisely to all relevant stakeholders. 9. Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues in production, quality assurance, and other departments. 10. Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve quality control processes. ❖ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 1. Percentage of tests completed within defined timeframes. 2. Number of non-conforming materials identified. 3. Accuracy rate of test results. 4. Number of investigations completed into quality control deviations. 5. Number of new analytical methods developed and validated. 6. Number of audits with zero findings. 7. Completion rate of training on new regulations and quality control procedures. 8. Employee satisfaction ratings related to communication and collaboration. 9. Number of suggestions implemented for improving QC efficiency. 10. Reduction in quality control related production downtime. J ❖ Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a QC laboratory, preferably in the FMCG industry
• Strong analytical skills and experience with various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, wet chemistry)
• Excellent understanding of GMP principles and quality control procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Additional Desirable Skills:
• Experience working with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
• Familiarity with relevant FMCG regulations
• Experience in method development and validation.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills Desired Certifications:
• Certified Quality Chemist (CQA)
• Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training
