Job Title: Nursing Supervisor – Night Shift

Department: Nursing

Reporting To: Nursing Superintendent / MS

Shift Timing: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Job Summary:

The Night Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the smooth functioning of nursing services during night hours. They supervise all nursing staff, maintain patient care standards, handle emergencies, and report any incidents to the Nursing Incharge or Medical Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Coordination
  • Supervise nursing staff and ensure proper distribution of duties during the night shift.
  • Monitor patient care activities and ensure adherence to hospital policies and protocols.
  • Ensure all wards, ICUs, and departments are adequately staffed and functioning smoothly.
  • Patient Care & Safety
  • Ensure high-quality nursing care and timely medication administration.
  • Handle patient and attendant complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor critical patients and ensure proper communication between doctors and staff.
  • Staff Management
  • Maintain discipline, attendance, and punctuality among nursing staff.
  • Conduct surprise rounds to ensure staff alertness and avoid negligence (e.g., sleeping on duty).
  • Arrange relievers or backup staff in case of absenteeism.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain night duty reports, incident reports, and handover notes for morning shift.
  • Report all significant incidents (e.g., death, code blue, security issue) to the Nursing Incharge/MS immediately.
  • Ensure all documentation and drug charts are properly completed by staff nurses.
  • Coordination with Other Departments
  • Coordinate with doctors, housekeeping, security, and maintenance for smooth night operations.
  • Ensure patient transfers, admissions, and discharges are handled efficiently.
  • Inventory & Safety
  • Check availability of emergency drugs, oxygen cylinders, and crash cart readiness.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order and report any malfunction to the maintenance team.

  • Sound knowledge of nursing procedures and hospital protocols
  • Empathy, discipline, and professionalism

Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / M.Sc. Nursing
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20, ₹25,000.00 per month
