PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Logistics Strategy & Operations

• Lead the design and execution of a robust logistics network covering inbound (supplier to plant), intra-plant, and outbound (plant to customer).
• Develop long-term logistics strategies aligned with production plans, market demands, and network expansion.
• Drive digital transformation in logistics.

Distribution Management

• Manage the outbound distribution of finished vehicles or components to Suppliers, OEMs, or exporthubs.
• Optimize vehicle dispatch planning, route optimization, and freight cost control.
• Ensure damage-free and timely delivery through third-party logistics (3PL) or in-house fleets.

Transportation Management

• Oversee selection, negotiation, and performance of transport vendors.
• Maintain compliance with RTO regulations, permits, insurance, and safety standards.
• Develop transport capacity models for seasonal demand and production surges.

Warehousing & Inventory Movement

• Manage regional warehouses for finished goods, service parts, and packaging.
• Ensure effective layout design, storage planning, and inventory control.
• Leverage automation and WMS tools for accuracy and efficiency.

Cost & Performance Optimization

• Identify and implement logistics cost-reduction projects without compromising service levels.
• Benchmark performance against industry standards using KPIs like OTIF, logistics cost per unit, etc. Analyze logistics data to enhance productivity and reduce transit damages or delays.

Stakeholder & Cross-functional Coordination

• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Sales, SCM, and Customer Service teams.
• Engage with 3PLs, customs authorities (for exports), and regulatory agencies.

IHR & Customer Complaints

Monitor & Reduce IHR level by analyzing the product and process defects and taking corrective action by improving assembly process and deploying the same horizontally.

Review day to day assembly process for rejection monitoring (process wise & product wise) to identify top defects for down the line Implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Monitoring SPC (Statistical Process Chart) & PQC (Process Quality Chart) reports to correct assembly process.

Team development

Establish individual performance expectations and regularly review the individual performance of the team.

Identify and create development opportunities for team members to enhance functional knowledge.

Plan for second line development and scale up, provide additional responsibilities for team from time to time.

Inbound Logistics Coordinate supplier deliveries, track consignments, optimize transport routes.

Inter-Plant Movements Manage timely and cost-efficient transfers between plants.

Outbound Distribution Plan vehicle/part dispatches, manage transporters, ensure on-time deliveries.

Warehousing Oversee warehouse operations, stock accuracy, and inventory movements.

Network Optimization Analyze and improve logistics network for cost and efficiency.

Vendor Management – Manage vendors and logistics partners

Systems & Compliance – Use ERP/TMS tools; ensure GST, e-way bill, and transport compliance.

Cost & Efficiency – Drive cost control, improve turnaround times and resource utilization.

Reporting & KPIs – Prepare MIS reports, monitor logistics KPIs and exceptions.

Issue Resolution – Handle disruptions, delivery issues, and transit losses swiftly.

Supply Chain Disruptions - Unpredictable lead times from Intercompany transfers

Transport Infrastructure & Last-Mile Delivery - Delays and damages due to lack of standardized vehicle carriers and inadequate multimodal integration

Managing Inventory and Warehouse Efficiency - Balancing between just-in-time and buffer stock amidst volatile demand, Handling high SKUs across warehouses & Need for automated WMS, space optimization, and reverse logistics system
